Juan Manuel Marquez is willing to fight Erik Morales

Before his comeback fight this past Saturday night in Monterrey, MX, where he was awarded a unanimous decision over Jose Alfaro on his way to capturing the WBC International welterweight title, Erik “Terrible” Morales of Tijuana, MX, mentioned that he would be interested in a bout against Juan Manuel Marquez in the near future.

“I would love to fight Cotto at 147 lbs or Marquez at 144 lbs,” Morales stated while still training in the Otomi Mountains of south central Mexico some weeks back. “After the 27th, they are going to have to notice me, whether they want to or not. In these weight classes, there isn’t great fighters and they know it.”

As far as Marquez, he does not discard the idea of facing Morales.

“We will see, in my last fights I want to go after big fighters,” Marquez said. “Whether its the third one with Pacquiao, which he doesn’t want or if the money is right, a fight with Morales, why not?”

Marquez, who currently holds the WBO and WBA lightweight titles, is preparing himself for his upcoming rematch against Juan “Torito” Diaz on July 10th in Las Vegas.

“After a five or six month rest, it is time to go back into the ring in a PPV event,” he stated.

Marquez also mentioned that the rematch was made because Diaz has stated repeatedly that he was winning until he got knoced out mid way thru the fight by Marquez.

“According to Diaz, he was winning,” Marquez said. “Our first fight was named the fight of the year for 2009 so now we hope that the rematch is another great fight. He is a worthy opponent.”

Marquez also stated that he is back in the gym and weighing 140 lbs. and should have no problem in making the the 135 lbs.

“I want my last fight to be in Mexico City as a show of thanks for all those who supported me but before I am going to do 4 or five fights,” Marquez said in conclusion.

Morales gets knocked out. No sense whatsoever in that fight apart from excitement.

JMM has become a cherry picker and Floyd has become the ultimate throw back warrior since their fight when before their roles were reversed. I mean, seriously. Whoever would've thought this would happen before our eyes?

And does a Morales vs. Cotto fight sound competitive to anyone? Lol. I've got more faith in little Migs than that.
