    Vernon Forrest: was he overrated?

I really believe "The Viper" was overrated. Yea, he shocked Shane Mosley in their first fight, but the rematch (which i was in attendance for) was lackluster and boring, and quite honestly, I thought the nod could have gone to Shane in that fight...

Vernon then gets KO'd by Mayorga and decisioned by him in the rematch. Cory Spinks and Felix Trinidad both beat Mayorga, albeit with different styles.

Some websites had Forrest as high as #1 pound for pound at one point. I'd like to see Forrest in with Ouma at 154. My pick is Ouma by KO.

Vernon Forrest is still a very good fighter. I don't think he was overrated. He fought the wrong fight and held his own against Mayorga but got caught because he was throwing wild punches. I don't agree with that stoppage because Forrest didn't appear to be out of it just a little stunned. He started too late in the rematch but still pulled out a draw on my card.

Forrest has the style to give Ouma a tough fight but I think Ouma would be able to outwork Forrest through enough rounds to get the decision. Ouma will be the future king of 154 in my opinion.

I wouldn't call Vernon overrated by a long shot. He schooled a very good Shane Mosley twice and you can't do that without some quality.

          Forrest-Mayorga 2 was closer then Forrest-Mosley 2

I still like Forrest. He really did show his class against Mosley but despite the long injury lay-off I think he really need to put in a couple of performances soon to keep me thinking that way.

Although with all the charity work he does for that home he'll always be a champ.

I tend to doubt that we would be calling Forrest overrated if he hadnt been stricken by injury of late. It is easier to forget what he had done in the ring when he has not fought in a couple years. I would not throw him in against Ouma for a couple fights but after he has a few tune ups I think that may very well be the fight to see at Jr. Middleweight.

Isnt Forrest fighting on the undercard of Hopkins vs Taylor? Hopefully they show it. He was a pretty good fighter back a few years ago and id like to see what he can do now.

bad few years... but overrated? no
he as the fighter of the year after he beat mosely twice (i think he was at least), then gets KO'd by mayorga
but mayorga has power, we all know that, n that was mayrogas perfect weight.
forrest was up in the rematch, but many thought that mayroga couldn't go 12, but he did get a second win, to pull of the rounds to win the fight
                    i had it 115-113 mayo
a couple bad fights recently, thts it tho
hes an excelelnt fighter in my books
