If khan does what I think he will then this whole maidana thing won't be remembered in a couple of years time, just like the prescott thing is starting to blow over. Maidana has just come at a bad point in khan's career to be honest, he is still rebuilding and roach is still refining his technique and his phyisique. People should judge him after this year, and to be honest with you its not like he isn't fighting a good fighter, he is fighting a legit 140 contender and is still stepping up in competition (A lot of people on here seem to forget that).

Alexander is much more of a finished article then khan is physically and technically, people start acting dumb and ignorant when it comes to this point and saying there the same age, but if you know this sport you should see this. Let me put it this way if alexander had a clear ***** in his armour, do you think his camp would go out of their way to put him in with a fighter who could expose that flaw? That is a retorical question.

Do you think Maidana's people would be overjoyed at the thought of him fighting malignaggi? A speed guy who has a good chin and can outbox him. I don't think they would. I think roach will put khan in with a puncher when he thinks he is ready, and that might be his next fight for all you know.

lol...the biggest draw in 140 is easily hatton. u guys act like the guy died. he still boxes and he still will rpoly outsell everyone else at jr welter. mali is not a draw in america. he is a draw in nyc mebbe. but most mainstream boxing fans dont kno who he is. if khan was worried about increasing hs fanbase here, he should have went up to 147. but his ass would get ktfoed if he did tht.

Paulie has a bigger name than most at 140, the fight is at madison square and last I checked he is a new york fighter, and most important he is pretty well known and has an identity with the british crowd seeing as he fought in manchester in front of 55,000 as well as his fight at the mgm against hatton which were both on sky box office (as well as hbo), and the khan fight will most likely will also be shown on both.

Their not superstars, no, but Malinaggi is recognisable among U.K fans through fighting on Hatton under cards and Hatton himself. Hes also been in a couple of entertaining fights with other recognisable names (Cotto,Diaz)

Khan is know from his exploits at the Olympics, his association with Manny and Freddy Roach and his sheer speed.

So in terms of being attractions they are bigger draws then Alexander, Maidana and Bradley.

I dont mind. But i hope they fight later in their career. Promoters, coaches they see them differently. Boxing matches sucks more often.

i beat u to that whole paulie is recognizable in new york. i kno, im a nyer. but outside of ny, no1 knows him worth much. nyways the point is 140 is a wide open division. no matter what u say, kahn aint gonna win fans by beating mali. the ppl who do kno who mali is, knos he cant hit worth **** and all the uk fans already kno what hatton did to him. khan wants to win over american fans, he needs to beat the best and he should have started over here with maidana.

He's 23 give the guy time!
No, I'm saying that the JMM and Malignaggi fights should never have ben discussed. Maidana was his mandatory. GBP is just going to protect him and never let him fight the best...Let's face it, beating Malignaggi isn't gonna get him some huge headline on ESPN and a huge US fanbase. He should have faced his mandatory, plain and simple. Richard Schaefer and Freddie Roach keep talking about "building up the fight", which is a load of crap. Maidana will most likely never be anything huge, at least not anytime soon so what's the point of building it up? And age isn't excuse. Devon Alexander is his age, and he's already faced three decent names at 140 and has two world titles. He's also chasing after bigger fights like Bradley, Judah and Maidana. Bradley also became a world champ at a young age and has faced a lot of big names himself. He even called out Pacquiao. Another example is Floyd Mayweather. He cleared the super featherweight division in his early 20s.
