Maybe a B class fighter with £50m in the bank has more to do with it?

I don't know...people always have short memories in sport from my experience. He was a ****ing good fighter between 2003-2007. People only seem to remember his last couple of years and the pac ko, rather than look at what he accomplished. He peaked physically against mayweather, that was his last fight were he was in his best physical condition.

The problem is like a lot of boxers people either get carried away with how good he was, or don't give him the credit he deserves. In my opinion he was an above average world champion, and to his credit a 2 weight world champion even though he was not built to go up in weight and didn't have the skillset to compensate for that, he won his fight with collazo through sheer determination. But its fair to say he was a 1-weight fighter.

He didn't always have the best style to watch especially when he moved up to world level, but jesus was he hard to beat. Two fisted, good hand and foot speed, good power, good chin (lost punch resistance as he got older, good stamina, big heart, and he was a great body puncher. His short comings were in defense and technique and he was found out in 4 fights against tszyu, collazo, (but managed to win through his determination workrate and heart) mayweather, and pacquiao, where he was exposed but only at the highest possible level.

Maybe the people that hate on him bet their houses on him, like he suggested people do when he fought Pacquiao. Seriously I have never understood why they hate him, exciting fighter plus exciting personality outside the ring.

          Ricky Hatton is underrated now.

He had some great performances over the years and deserves a lot more respect than he's now being given.

I believe his big gains and losses in weight between fights in recent years caused him to prematurely decline as a fighter. He needed to avoid the beer and junk food. When he fought more frequently before the Tszyu fight, he didn't have time to get badly out of shape between fights.

I don't hate on him, however I do think he was overrated his whole career and in his prime probably wouldn't fair to well in the 140 division of today.

I'd disagree with that, I don't think any of the 140's would be able to handle the pressure of Ricky, he'd wear them down and KO them late.

But, horses for courses and all that.

I don't hate Hatton so I would like the "haters" to explain why they do "hate" him.
                1) Hes unamerican
                2) he is not a superior athelete.
