What is incredible about Ali is that he lost 3 of his very best years in prison. You must respect the guy

I know thats kind of strange, and we cannot see who won it at his place, if you sum the number of years you have 38 years, theres a lot of people missing.

Did Roberto Duran won it ?? Im surprised is not on the list

There were a few years where an award was not given, which is kinda weird. Duran must have at least won one. Even Hatton has one! What is this world coming to!?

If Pac stays for another 5 years,he'll break the record. He already got 3, Maybe 4th this year, all he has to do is Beat Mosley or Mayweather. Next year, he just need to defend his title 2/3 times and he got it again.

I definitely don't agree with the last one Ali won. They gave it to him for making history by being the first 3-time HW champ, but in doing so he lost a fight to a guy with 6 professional bouts. Ali was a shot fighter by then.

Whereas in that year, Roberto Duran unified the LW title by dominating Esteban Dejesus, then beat a top 10 JWW contender (at WW) in Monroe Brooks. Wilfredo Gomez went 5-0 in title fights, including a win over the 52-0 Carlos Zarate, which is probably Gomez's best career win.

The Ring had a real strong pro-HW bias back then. Just look at some of the winners for Fight of the Year.

Ali never went to prison...he fought the US Government about the draft and spent all that time in courts. But regardless, that inactivity still didn't deter him to be back as the "People's Champ".

One can only imagine what he could have accomplished....perhaps 7 to 10 fights within that time span and pad up his resume with beating of more heavyweight champs.

Indeed one has to give more respects to the "greatest". In my book, at least, he is still the greatest.

Kind of ****ty that the #1 and #2 HWs of all-time in Ali and Louis both lost 3-4 years of their prime.
