I said this already and it is nothing but the truth, 50$ is way too much. All the fans know it, yet the delusion/idea that a good portion of boxing fans are going to buy this, is cemented into these idiotic promoter's heads. Roy and Bhop can think that it is unfair for the fight to be reduced to something like 19.99$, but the fact it is 2010 already proves that this fight is WAY overdue.

Funny thing is, I bet if they reduced the price, they would probably make more money.

every post i just read on this article makes complete sense. that tells you we as the boxing fans are underappreciated and ripped off.
the ufc is popular because they put together many good or entertaining fights with the last two being elite popular guys.
i love boxing first, but it is losing due to the greed of the fighters and promoters and shunning the fans.
50 bucks for one decent fight? awful.
50 bucks for bhop and roy? awful
i love bhop even at this stage, but this is ridiculous.

i hope no one buys this to prove a point.

we as fans need to take a stand!!!

I have no problem paying 50$, I just feel they need to come on stronger with the undercards to make it justifiable.

but considering even crappy PPV's sell reasonably well (like the one mentioned in the article .. Pac-Clottey) you could make a strong case that DLH-Pac & Pac-Hatton also had **** undercards

but why would the Boxing promoters have any reason to make the undercards better? getting higher quality fighters would involve paying more money

**and if they (the promoters) think they can get say 2 Million buyers for a DLH-Pacquiao fight with a **** undercard

why bother upping the quality of the other fights on the card?

Did anybody chuckle when they read "Mayweather's sparring session with Juan Manuel Marquez"??? Lol. Anyway, ppv sucks!!! $50 to see 1 fight basically. Its becoming the norm 2 have horrible undercards on the ppv's. You would think that as fan buying the product, you would get rewarded with a good main event & atleast 1 good fight on the undercard. As 4 the Hopkins-Roy fight, once I heard it was gonna be on ppv, I said no thanks!!! Don't really care for the match up as it is so im definately not gonna pay $50 to see it. Hopkins can still fight but Roy just got ktfo in 1 round.

This article make so much sense that I'm force to give Don King credit for putting the best PPV event back in the days..... hell can you imagine to have a Chavez senior and a Tito Trinidad in the same PPV.... that was the boxing fans expectation back in the 90's! Now.... we have no one to blame but ourselves ( I include myself on this bunch ).

We keep buying the worthless PPVs and they keep dishing the ****, but for a couple of more dollars!

We need to send a message and take a stand! If you want to spend your money, do so, but it you want to force the industry to put out a better product for us..... then wait a week and watch to fight on HBO and don't buy the PPV this saturday or future saturday's until they get the message!

Boxing is a great part of my life.... I love the sport and I want to support the fighters. But no a days it seems that everyone one is taking a bigger piece of the pie and they are not even getting in the ring to do it.

              Peace!

The only way to get changes made is to hit them where it hurts and that is in the pockets. Most of us as boxing fans will not miss that main event so we pay that $50 just to see the main event. I know for me there is no way that I can wait until next week to see the fight and avoid this site and others to not find out the results of the fight. So it is hard but the only way is to hit these guys in the pockets.

^ exactly, the PPV's get ragged on for having poor overall quality but still sell reasonably well.

my favorite was a couple years back leading up to DLH-Pac an article released via espn and it was talking about how the cost of PPV has gone up and limits the fans .. even turning many away .. who either don't want to or can't afford to pay.

and right in the article, just as you stated it, one of the fans pretty much said what you did regarding "wait a week and watch to fight on HBO"

on a general note, people really need to smarten up.

The fact that it was bound for pay-per-view was inevitable the moment it gained a realistic chance of becoming a reality. This much was accepted, even if not overwhelmingly embraced – HBO’s own involvement is limited to that of distributor, not investing a dime into the production end of the broadcast. I never thought in a million years I would miss Don King but he used to put on the best PPVs top to bottom. I remember seeing James Toney, Felix Trinidad, Pernell Whitaker, Simon Brown, Terry Norris, etc on the undercards of his Tyson and Chavez PPVs. I agree with Nesty, I will wait one week and watch Hopkins vs. Jones for free.
