I got my answer to what I wanted to know earlier from Roy's chat. It's good to see Roy Sr still involved training for this fight.

What hasn't been mentioned much is that Alton Merkerson is AGAINST Roy continuing to fight - as he stated (pretty much) during a conference call. But he said he would rather be in the corner if Jones continues to fight because he knows him so well and will know what to do in case of trouble, etc. Jones, however, disputes this - saying that Merkerson said something different in private.

Yes I caught that too. Merk is saying one thing to media then saying another thing to Roy. When push comes to shove hopefully he knows what best for Roy so he won't get seriously hurt in the ring for good.

yeah, I remember when Freddie Roach was very public about his concerns with Bernard fighting Kelly Palvik and advised him to retire.
