  • Is Pacquiao this generations Ali?

Now he has come up from the ranks and dominated every division, he took out legends in Moralis, Barrera and Marquez. Then took out Oscar while going up from 133 to 144 to fight him, then took out the ring 140 champ. Now destroyed a top class welter in Cotto and a man who weighed around 15-20 pounds more than him in Clottey.

He is at his prime right now and it looks like nobody can keep his angle, combo and ferocious attacking ability at bay. You even had Mayweather not wanting a fight with him

I think only when Pacquiao retires will people really be able to see how great this man was, at the moment probably a top 30-35 all time great. When he retires his legacy will grow, never ducked anyone and goes for the best...

Ring Magazine Welterweight Rankings may 2009
    1. Shane Mosley
    2. Miguel Cotto
    3. Antonio Margarito
    4. Joshua Clottey
    5. Manny Pacqiao

Dominated every division? It takes more than 1 or 2 fights to dominate a division.

Probably not, but he is this generation's overachiever.

Who would have expected this man to lose by ko's early in his career and rise through the ranks with only one fighting hand, and continue to learn despite his level of achievement?

But the level of high class boxers on the HOF or ATG level is far less, instead hasnt he worked the best in each division which made it harder as he fought against bigger guys going up (bar 135)

maybe but remember how young he was, at that time he was just fighting to feed his family as they were so poor. everyone loses, isnt coming back from a loss showing the true heart of a boxer like ali did?

                That's why he's this generation's overachiever.

He fought without proper food, nutrition, shoes and even trainer, yet did what he had to do in each fight. Not too many fighters can claim that.

Pacquiao is a wonderful fighter and I am honoured to be able to watch him in his prime. But you cannot compare him to Ali. Very few in history can be compared to Ali in my opinion. Pac is once in a generation. Ali is once in a lifetime.
