You have to talk the most **** and be THE **** talker of your era to be Ali. Flamboyant arrogance is also needed. pac has none of those.Comment

Some people have made excellent cases for Ali's boxing career versus Pacquiao's. But I think they're really beside the point. What makes Muhammad Ali greater is that he transcended his sport more than any athlete before or since. He captured the attention of the general public with his charisma and sharp wit. He's quoted to this day. His images are iconic. Ali inspired untold masses by refusing to give in to the pressures of his government and forfeiting his heavyweight title in the process. All these years later, Ali is still adored and studied. He had an impact on the imagination of people on a worldwide scale.
Manny Pacquiao is huge in many parts of the world, especially in his own country, but his reach doesn't extend as far as Ali's. Manny has been elected to his own government as a congressman. Ali influenced and inspired his nation (the world?) on a political level -- indeed, it can be said his actions still do. While Manny's achievements are high, even outside the ring, the force of his personality pales before Ali's. Where are Manny's quotes? Where are his iconic images? When you compare these two men, the argument is brief.Comment
