I saw some pretty good looking prospects and others as well this weekend,
Lateef Kayode (Hollywood, California by way of Nigeria)- Trained by Freddie Roach, improved his record to 11-0 (10 KO's) with the stoppage of Chris Thomas in round 4... Made his debut at cruiserweight at 198 1/2, his previous fights were at heavyweight at like 206... Looked impressive under the tuteledge of Roach as was expected, but looked to me like he could have ended the fight sooner if he wanted to.
Dominik Britsch (Neckarsulm, Germany)- Middleweight who improved his record to 18-0 (7 KO's) over Matt Berkshire (10-1-1).. Got the second round stoppage but his record doesnt show just how powerful I think this guys shots are..
Vernon Paris (Detroit, Michigan)- Improved his record to 20-0 (13 KO's) with the Unanimous Decision over Oscar Leon, fighting at light welterweight. Didnt look as impressive as he usually does for some reason but this is a guy who if he sticks with it and keeps working as hard as he has been, will definitely be a potential contender for a title in the future.
Ronald Hearns (Detroit/Southfield, Michigan)- Now 24-1 (18 KO's), he looked rather boring in a UD over a less than worthy opponent to say the least, 26-42-2 Marteze Logan, but he has true boxing skills just like his old mad, and is another guy who could become a world champion if he stays with it. The first time I saw him live he knocked his opponent out in the first 30 seconds.. Definitely some power in those hands.
I also got to meet Hearns and his father, Freddie Roach and Kayode, as well as Antonio Tarver before he broadcasted, and some others. Great time!
