So what's your opinion then? Do you think he was innocent the whole time and the cops arrested the wrong man?

Well it wouldn't be the first time, but my own personal opinion doesn't matter, not least because (a) I'm not privy to the facts of the case and (b) even if I were and felt he was guilty it wouldn't change the fact he is officially innocent in the eyes of the law.

I didn't think or imply that you were defending him, but the whole "guilty until proven innocent" thing is bandied about every time there isn't enough proof of guilt, like it holds magical properties. I'm saying the standard really only applies in a court of law. We can draw our own conclusions regarding certain aspects of a persons guilt or innocence amongst ourselves. It wouldn't affect Broner in any significant way.

There are countless cases where "innocent" people were actually guilty, and that doesn't even include the cases where the public believed the "innocent" to actually be guilty. The infamous O.J. Simpson case is but one example.

if the court of public opinion is making their minds up without any evidence, then i wouldnt give it much credence.

had it gone to trial we'd have some evidence and THEN you could form an opinion. but this is before all that

it would basically be court of public opinion based on whatever the cops accuse you of and not evidence. no thanks

Again, if we were talking about a court case, the accused would certainly be entitled to a presumption of innocence. But this is an Internet forum where opinions are the order of the day. Since the guilty go free often enough due to lack of evidence, it's perfectly reasonable for the general public to regard a su****ious individual with distrust. As far as we know, Broner has been arrested twice for similar crimes. Coincidence? Maybe. But, often, where there's smoke there's fire.

lol I hear that. But it appears the kid has been pinched twice for related crimes. Guilty or not, he's stinking a bit.

Here's an excerpt from the UK newspaper "The Sun" (dated February 15, 2013):

Broner certainly has a colourful story. He first laced up at the age of seven and honed his craft in almost 300 amateur bouts.

However, his 2008 Olympic aspirations were scuppered when he spent a year on remand, accused of robbery and assault.

He was again arrested in 2010 for ‘purse snatching’ but those charges were dropped.

So he spent a year in pre-trial detention in 08, I'm guessing the case was dismissed as well.

I also think it's reasonable to distrust this guy after two separate, unrelated arrests for robbery.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Obviously, few (if any) can say with certainty that Broner snatched an old lady's purse and punched her in the face in the process. But the guy is suspect at the very least. I'm honestly not trying to convince anyone of Broner's guilt, but I know I now regard him in an even more negative light than before.

although the charges were dropped it's still savage. this is what happens when you hang out with the wrong crowd.

i would love to read the transcripts of the court case (just to see the exact details)

but i do realize that A past is a past (especially when you're a young knuckle head)

btw......A man that gets arrested on su****ion of robbery doesn't always mean he's guilty.

these guys get involved with the wrong crowd & you'll be connected to any and everything that crowds involved with.

I agree Broner definitely young... this happened acouple years ago when he was in his 20's. He was practically a kid.
