I'd love for you to explain to me why you rank Bute #1.

What is his body of work? Needing 16 rounds vs. Andrade, the guy that Kessler shutout. Let's not forget he should have been KO'd in the 12th round of their first fight. Zuniga? The guy Pavlik KO'd at MW? Joppy? The guy Trinidad KO'd 50 years ago?
I give him credit for the Bika win and the Andrade KO.
Froch's resume of Taylor, Dirrell(even though he should have lost that fight), and Pascal is light years ahead of Bute.
Ward's resume of Kessler and Miranda is also ahead of Bute.Comment

In boxing, it's usually "what have you done for me lately". In Bute's last fight he KO'd a guy with an iron chin in 4 rounds. Put him down with a shot to the chin, KO'd him to the body. It was impressive. But it doesn't make him number 1.Comment

I respect your opinion, but if you try to discredit Bute's win, I can do the same for Froch and Ward...What is his body of work? Needing 16 rounds vs. Andrade, the guy that Kessler shutout. Let's not forget he should have been KO'd in the 12th round of their first fight. Zuniga? The guy Pavlik KO'd at MW? Joppy? The guy Trinidad KO'd 50 years ago?

Froch's resume of Taylor, Dirrell(even though he should have lost that fight), and Pascal is light years ahead of Bute.
Ward's resume of Kessler and Miranda is also ahead of Bute.
Froch won against a shot Taylor who had two rough fights against Hopkins, who had been knocked out against Pavlik and lost another 12 rounders against Pavlik. Let's not forget that one point in the fight Froch was almost knocked out and if Taylor would have survived, the judges had him winner.
Now, Ward fought Miranda who had been knocked out by Abraham and Pavlik at 165 and 160. And I remember Ward running away from the 10th to 12th round. He just ran away sometimes throwing jabs.
I think that Bute just fight Miranda for a tune-up fight before Pavlik or MAYBE Dawson.
Also, Andrade would give Froch a lot of trouble, and I've never seen Ward with a guy who gives A LOT of pressure. I don't think he has the power to trouble Andrade. Even if I see Ward winning a wide UD, I give Andrade a chance at beating him.Comment

It doesn't even have to be until after the tournament. As of now his best wins are: Bika, Andrade, and let's assume he beats Miranda. Who's he going to fight that's worth a damn after that considering all the top fighters are locked up in the Super Six?
If Ward defeats Green and Dirrell he'll have already surpassed Bute in terms of resume. In fact you probably make a case for Ward if he just beats Green in his next fight.Last edited by βetamax; 03-29-2010, 10:49 PM.Comment

Butes punching power and accuracy is pretty sick these days, but who knows... Andrade is a fighter who comes straight forward and so is Zuniga. So, I don't know what to take out of those fights. Can Bute hurt a mover like Ward or Dirrell?
How would he perform against them? I'm actually wanting this tourney to end soon for the fact I want to see Bute against some of these fighters. Bute seems like a boxer puncher so thats exciting to see that if its the case or maybe its the opponents infront of him making him look that good... Will find out sooner or later...Comment
