Gary Shaw: "Michigan does not test for steroids"

So Andre Dirrell, who pretended to have a back injury to move the fight from Palm Springs to Detroit, was tested for several drugs such as ******* with his urine sample at the hospital after the fight, but was not tested for steroids.

This seems rather shady to me...

Michigan tests for marijuana (Tyson-Golota), but not steroids. Surely it's worse if a fighter smokes some weed rather than takes steroids. Just great.

That's how it is though. Different places, different commissions, different rules.

Front page story on fight news.

"There is more to the story that put Shaw in a foul mood. Shortly before the press conference convened (with Dirrell having been taken to the hospital and shortly before Shaw approached the podium’s microphone), an unidentified member of the Dirrell camp shouted to a party in the Abraham camp, “You people are a classless act!” It was unclear as to what this outrage was about, but Shaw, after quickly thanking the people of Olympia Entertainment (the group controlling the venue of Joe Louis Arena) and Michigan boxing officials, made the startling accusation, “Wilfried Sauerland [promoter of Abraham and a co-promoter of the present promotion] is a classless act!”

Shaw explained that Sauerland had wanted to have Dirrell drug tested for steroids. Shaw went on to explain (with neither Sauerland, Abraham, or any of their camp in the room) that Michigan, while it tests for marijuana and *******, does not test for steroids."

And its not stopping ppl from doing drugs either, boxers just won't smoke pot around the time their going to test. How long does marijuana last in the system? You druggies know right?

Are you suggesting that Dirrell is on steroids?

In a sport like boxing where lots of fighters probably cheat, its ashame they let people juice up on steroids and fill their hand-wraps with plaster... The plaster one being the worst since you can possibly kill or brain-damage someone that way... Yup, were talking about you Margacheato!
