He should have begged Shaw to let him do this thing. Now while he's stuck waiting a year to go to Canada to fight Froch leftovers, Dirrell and Ward are enjoying exposure to the mainstream, important fights, and hometown crowds.

All he was really missing was a good following, some popularity. This was the tool he needed. Shaw did him a disservice, partly because Dirrell is in it I think.

He had a contract with HBO. I doubt HBO would of let him go for him to participate at a Showtime tournament.
