I was sure this thread must've been made before, but the search facility didn't turn up any results so....

I gotta say my favourite fight ever is still Gatti-Ward 1. It was a complete war, there were so many power shots, CLEAN power shots exchanged throughout, it had everything, great sharp boxing( Gatti), then toe to toe exchanges, tremendous body punches by both, a knockdown, swings of momentum, grit, heart and will to win. Merchant said he was humbled watching that fight, so was I and so must be anyone who witnessed it. It was a car crash of a fight. Thank god you had Frank Cappucino ref'ing the fight because that mofo just doesn't stop fights, the guy is like a ref from the 50s!!! And this fight needed that, becuase no one was getting knocked out, and both had too much heart to be stopped and ruled out of another swing in momentum.

And that ninth round's the best ever, IMO.... better than Hagler-Hearns round 1... Ward pursues Gatti, throwing hurtful shots, they trade, Ward slips a devastating left hook right under Gatti's elbow, to the rib, and drops him... When Gatti gets up Ward drives towards him like a Mack truck, throwing constant power shots, hooks to the head and liver, Gatti is getting bludgeoned, then before you know it GATTI has WARD on the ropes, slinging heavy hands...I remember Gatti landing massive right hooks right to Mickey's body and he stood up to them like they were nothing... Ward lands a HUGE uppercut with about 47 seconds remaining then another DEVASTATING barrage leads Gatti to the ropes. Ward throws everything but the kitchen sink at him, pinning Arturo on the ropes and landing multiple right hands, Gatti seems out on his feet but still throws back. It's incredible heartstopping stuff.
you ***** abraham is still the best fight in the tournament and he is going to win it.

I also love that fight. One thing I think about JMM that gives Pac a load of problems, is not just his counter punching, but the way he counters.

We all know that Pac is a "window shopper"...When he lands a good punch or combo, he stands there to see the damage he has done...This will always back fire against a fight like JMM. For JMM is the type of fighter that returns fire in educated combos when he is hit (or hurt).

I think that is why JMM gives Pac so many problems...Do you see that as a valid reason?
I agree. I saw a lot of this in round 9, a round that Pacquiao was landing some good shots but got caught by a lot of counters.
