On Khan:
On retirement:
On being Britain's No.2 fighter with Lewis at No.1:
I think all this 'going down' and 'undefeated' talk misses the point of boxing as a sport. To me Arturo Gatti is greater than either fighter and he went down a lot and lost many fights too. Boxing is greater than winning or losing, it's about heart, spirit and character. If you show the fans you give your all in a fight, it lives in their memory forever and is worth more than any prancey 12 round points victory destined to be forgotten by the next week.
"He's been down like six times in his career. It's early times and he's been down six times. In 26 years of boxing I went down four times."
To retire undefeated is a rare commodity. Nobody retires. Being undefeated your legacy grows, you have one defeat and you're like everybody else.
"I should be number one!" he fumed. "Look at his record, 42 won and two lost. That's a disgrace. He's been down twice. I'm the only un- defeated fighter!"
