"Should I have waited untill he raised again? Every fighter must take his chance to land the KO-punch. As the referee did not go between us I felt it was OK to punch."
The sad thing is, I actually agree with Abraham on the last part. I'm not questioning the DQ call, but there's a great point to be made that Cole - already a ****ty referee going in - should never ever again be allowed to officiate a fight boasting even the slightest semblance of significance.

Saturday was honestly as bad as I've ever seen him, and that's including his actions in the Marquez-Jaca fight a few years ago.

I know the old rule of thumb is that the best referee is the one you never see on your TV screen, but at the same time you also have to be in position to jump in when necessary. Cole was way out of position all night, leading to a ton of blown calls (both ways).

The appeal won't go anywhere - nor should it - and Team Abraham is better off just using the loss as motivation more than anything else. But AA certainly isn't incorrect about Cole not doing his job.

Good thing Sauerland. Keep your fighters from the protected US 'fighters'.

He'll get nothing, he deserved it, he acted like a frustrated fighter who was about to loose his "0". It's like Abe Concepcion filing a protest after his DQ against Luevano, it's different, I know, but well deserved too, like it was in this case.

Yeah. Cole missed a clear KD as well as a debateable one. AA complained about low blows a couple of times, but unfortunately there was no replay so I don't know what to make of that part.

I doubt there was any referee in the world that could have got between Abraham and Dirrell before Abraham threw that shot. Anyway, not the point - you don't hit your man when he is down.

dirrell arthur was a pretty obvious winner
Yes but AA was catching up and the fight was far from over last night. The knockdown in the tenth was nasty. Dirrell was excellent last night but AA's impatience may have cost him a legit KO. I would be less than shocked if these two met again in the Finals.

Technically, one does not have to stop punching when an opponent slips unless TOLD not to. There's a famous moment in Louis-Conn where Louis chose not to tag a slipped Conn and was commended for it because he COULD have taken advanatge. Cole claims he made that call and maybe AA heard it and punched anyways. That I don't know but if Cole made the call the DQ is fair.

Lol, what? Am I to believe Arthur Abraham with 31 professional fights didn't know YOU CAN'T HIT A FIGHTER ON THE GROUND ALREADY!?
