Anyway, Guzman was wrong for not making weight. All I'm saying is, Guzman dominated, 9 lbs has 0 to do with why Funeka couldn't lay a glove on Guzman. He pretty much got outboxed, only gave Funeka one round; the 3rd. It's sad he didn't make 135 because he could have been a champion, I guess he plans to move up.
The thing I feel is that Guzman making 135 would have killed him and made his own performance worse.

Yes the extra 9 lbs didn't make Funeka miss, but it made Guzman fight better, or how he is suppose to.

Now if he wants to stay at 140 or 147, then he will have to deal with a whole other level with Bradley, Floyd or Pac.

He wouldn't be able to make 135 anymore, unless he can lose like 30 lbs or whatever from the articles I read.

Not sure why he has put on weight so fast.

Its because he rarely fights. He can still make 135, he just needs to stay busy.

he should be suspended for at least a year! By the time his suspension is lifted, he will be heavier than Ricky Hatton, balloon all the way to 180 lbs, and then he Guzman will not be able to even meet the 147 lb limit. He shouldnt be allowed to fight in HBO fights, or any fights that has any TV coverage. He doesnt deserve it!

Maybe so, but all he was talking about with the first fight was worrying about the weight rather than training.

He even got a nutritionalist in Keery Kayes to help.

If you know the problem a few motnhs before, then surely he could have done more.

Seemed like he didn't care at the weigh in when I saw the video.
He's lucky he is with GBP

Plus there are inactive fighters who come abck who make weight better than him man.

I dunno if it's me but I just feel that he didn;t respect the weight.

If he was a few pounds heavier like Nate, I woudl have understood.

What's he mean moving "up" to 140. Doesn't he mean moving down? He's a bit like Castillo in his last years: a fighter without a division.

hopefully he wont get a chance to bcuz he doesnt deserve it. what he needed, bcuz its too late now, but what he needed was some dedication, work ethic and respect for the sport. but he doesnt have it and he gives boxing a bad name, hopefully he wont get another shot at anyone bcuz there are fighters who deserve it so much more. he blew his chance.

How overweight was he for the Campbell fight? 3-4 pounds right? And now he shows up 9 pounds overweight? It's disgusting that the guy is able to do that, and he makes a mockery of it all on top of it.
although I agree that some form of sanction against Guzman should be metted, I think a year suspension is too harsh, probably, maybe cut him out from championship & network fights for a year ...
