I'm not saying Abraham was right for hitting him while he was down like that but Dirrel is ****in done. He won't last long in this tournament. And I'm glad because I hate his style. Say what you want about Andre Ward. But he doesn't run around the ring like some ****less pea****.
Dirrell was falling right into AA's plans. AA never wanted a decision. He knew not to leave it in the hands of the three American judges. He wanted a knockout and nothing else. AA lets Dirrell take shots at him to get him tired. Once AA stepped on the gas in the 10th it was bye-bye for Denzel Dirrell Washington. Dirrell only put on a "boxing clinic" was AA allowed him to do so just like he does with every fighter he faces. Nothing new here expect this bum Dirrell rather take the easy way out then get knocked the F out.
Dirrell was hit by AA's best all fight and only went down once off balance.. AA was desperate and wildy swinging.. Your an idiot lover. Go try and get his autograph ******.
I really don't think he ran all that much. I saw him being much more slick and clever than against Froch, which may be a more arguable case for running. Either way, running isn't against the rules.
Great boxing clinic by Andre Dirrell tonight. He was the first guy to ever knock Abraham down, not once but twice (at the end of a round Dirrell countered Abraham with a huge left hand that sent him reeling and Abraham was held up by the ropes but the ref did not count it). Dirrell's switch-hitting was so fluid especially when he would throw the straight-left from southpaw stance and then instantaneously switch it to a stiff jab from an orthodox stance and just as quickly return to southpaw. I do wish he would keep his hands up more when he defends because at one point Dirrell was pinned against the ropes, but because Dirrell had his hands up he blocked almost all of Abraham's shots. He should have done this a bit more, but nonetheless it was a great performance.
In closing, no Abraham was not exposed as a fighter because he is still very dangerous and guys have to stay 100% focused when they face him. However, he was exposed as a poor sportsman and a sore loser, especially with his remarks after the fight.
Sportsmanship? Cotto has pulled some slick **** and got away with it. Don't try to pretend that he hasn't. He puned Clottey in the back of the head in the last round when Clottey had his back turned. And I thought that was some punk ****.
But when he loses does he act like a jerk on his interviews no thats what i'm saying.
I was actually pretty worried after seeing how confused and disoriented Dirrell was immediately after the fight. I didn't believe that it had anything to do with bleeding in the brain as that is usually due to an accumulation of punches rather than one hard punch. Glad to see Dirrell is ok.
After watching the replay it becomes more and more clear that this was an intentional foul. Something should be done about water in the fighters corner. It doesn't happened too often but enough to be a concern. Dirrell slipped earlier in the fight in Abrahams corner and then slipped again in the final round creating the opportunity for the foul. Should the corner be fined after being warned to keep the corner dry by the ref? Should boxing prevent the use of slick ads in the ring, especially in the fighters corners? Or should the sport of boxing do nothing and wait for a fighter to tear an ACL?
My hats off to Dirrell. I still don't like the way he fights especially after having him run and flop all over the ring against Froch. However, I did gain some respect for Dirrell after watching him outbox and go toe to toe with Abraham. Maybe this might push Abraham to pick it up and actually fight an entire boxing match not just the last two rounds.
