    abraham and roy jones

what abraham did tonight was very similar to what jones did in his fight against griffin with the difference being abrahams punch just did more damage. concepcion also recently did the same thing against luevano so if you have such strong feelings on abraham i ask you how do you feel about these other fighters who have basically done the same thing.

Pretty much, only difference Griffin purposely took a knee to clear his head, Dirrell looked like he slipped dodging that jab.

AA did it, Roy did it, Soto did it, Pac did it, MAB did it, Concepcion did it. Some got DQ'd some didn't.

I personally felt neight one of them deserved a DQ.

I don't like it but it's actually very common. Refs unfortunately do not penalize fighters enough for it and it takes fights like this, Bowe-Mathis, or Jones-Griffin 2 for it to get attention.

Foreman-Norton, Foreman-Roman, Norris-Waters, Tyson-Halpin, Norris-Leonard, Bowe-Ferguson, Barrera-Marquez, Judah-Sample...are all examples off the top of my head of guys hitting opponents when they are down.

yeah exactly that shows how something like that can be done on reflex and not as a way of cheating i highly doubt roy felt he needed to cheat against montell to get the win and im not so sure aa did this on purpose either as a way of cheating

Perhaps, though that fight was a hell of a lot closer than this one. Griffin was holding his own.

Griffin couldn't go on so Roy got the DQ. What Roy did was illegal. If it was simply in the moment for each and everyone...yeah, most likely...but still can cause the change of a fight and the end to the fight. Worse than that; it can cause the damage to the fighter since being KO'd is never good. The Worse the trauma to the head the worse off he is.

With AA, I think he was frustrated he couldn't get to Dirrell all night and when he saw his moment...even if it was illegal...he took it because that's the natural instinct of most people when they are in hostile territory fighting for survival and losing.

if the fighter can't continue I think the ref has to give out the DQ.

It didn't matter eventhough most of us feel the same Roy was to hyper and lost control, he was undefeated until then as well. It all good b/c unlike Abraham couldn't ever pull off what Roy Jones did in the rematch. 1st round KO and Montell definately wasn't acting that time Roy's left hook could have poped Griffin's head off lol
