Had Roy Jones Changed his Style to Winky Wright Style after 2003?

Roy has shown the ability to use that Winky Wright style in some of his fights and in my opinion he gets hit solid less and catches the shots with the gloves. It also puts him in less danger of getting hit with bombs when he drops that left hand. Roy should have realized long time ago that as he got older he wouldn't be able to get away with the style he used in his prime and would have to adjust.

The question is in your opinion had he used that Winky Wright style with consistency from 2003 on would he have gotten knocked out? I thought when he got Tarver on the inside, especially in that 3rd fight he was tearing him apart, then he goes back to fighting from the outside. I have always thought Roy was a underated inside fighter because of his quick body punches and upercuts. He just never used it with consistency.

In his fight with Danny Green he drops the left hand thinking he's 25 years old and can get that guard up, but he couldn't. In the Calzaghe fight he drops his hand he gets nailed which got him cut. Not saying he wins that fight, but at least he possible avoids getting cut and gives him a better shot to win.

I can see that too, what else can he do. He doesn't have the athletic ability anymore.

He can't do much of anything else. He was never a technically sound boxer due to his athletic abilities. Once his skills and reflexes started to fade, he was never the same.

He had success with using the Winky style of walking the opponent down with his gloves up and blocking and countering so he could have adjusted and used a different style. I think his ego is why he never used it consistently.

When Roy was young he was a great boxer, but once he turned pro his athletic abilities were to much for even the best boxers. When Roy lost the muscle after the Ruiz fight at Heavyweight his body gravely turned against him. It aged him 5 years dropping the 30 lbs.
