Jones would've whooped his ass back then.

I remember Roy talking about moving back down to 168 back then. I dont know if the fight was ever seriously negotiated, but its a shame it didnt happen. Going to HW to fight Ruiz was probably more lucrative for his bank balance and his legacy.

That seems to be a common belief. I just wonder why -- if Joe was so easy to beat -- didn't Jones kick his ass when Calz was trying to set up a fight 10 years ago.

It would of been a great fight, and much more competitive than people here seem to think. Calzaghe would of been one of the best guys he ever faced but I think Jones would just edge it by UD.

Calzaghe beats any version of Hopkins as well, imo.

According to Warren, Jones asked for too much money. He talks about it on the Calzaghe Doc: Not your average Joe

Calzaghe loved to mix it up too much, i think Jones would have hurt him. Stopped him.

But i always thought it would have been a good fight. Calzaghe was very fast, and experienced.

He had power back then too.

If Joe wasn't still under Frank Warren's wing back then, those fights would've happened IMO.

You think Warren stopped the Hopkins and Jones fights?
