Why did Roy Jones give Tarver a Rematch?

The Rematch was the start of the downfall for Roy. When i watch that 1st fight against, i don't see where Tarver deserves a rematch. Yea he made Roy work but i had Roy still winning 117-111. No closer than 116-112.

Had Roy never given the rematch what do you think happens the rest of Roy's career. Keep in mind the confidence and swagger would still be there because he would not have gotten knocked out yet. Maybe he fights Glen Johnson a lot different and not being so scared to get hit.

He did it because he tought he could give Tarver a better beating then first time. Roy dosen't back away from challenges. Even if the fight haden't happend Roy was in sharp decline. He would have lost to some other guy eventually if he kept fighting top fighters.

1 of the ******est career moves in history, Roy made Tarver a millionaire & a household name. But isn't it funny that haters tried to say that Roy never accepted a challenge in his career?

He should have fought Tarver before he moved up to heavy....he was in decline in 2002 anyway

I've pondered this one too, the Jones from fight one clearly deserved the decision. I saw no real reason for a rematch.

Roy would have gone on to lose to Glen Johnson though. Glen had too fast a pace for the weight weakened Jones.
