IF you get KTFO in the 1st, then that. I mean both would be psychologically hard to bounce back from. But I would rather lose not getting hurt then lose getting badly hurt, its a lot easier to bounce back from a 12 round loss than it is from a bad knockout.

i dont know man, getting stopped in the first round can have some serious psychological effects. some never come back from that.

getting outboxed by malignaggi isn't all that bad, chalk it up to a bad night. getting obliterated in one round can make a guy gunshy for the duration.

Yeah agreed. Though it really depends on the degree of the knockout, also what happens in the earlier rounds. If you take barely any punishment from 1 through 11 then there ain't that much difference except the fact that you know you could fight with the guy for almost a full fight. Example, I personally think Ricky's loss to Pac was a lot worst than the one to Floyd, he may say different. But when it comes down to it, he can say he won a couple rounds against Floyd and took him into the late rounds, with Manny he can't say *****. He couldn't get past the 2nd round got knockdown more times in those 2 rounds, didn't come close to winning one, and couldn't even give a interview after the fight. Against Floyd he put up a fight, against Manny he got embarrassed.

u know my initial thought was like most..i'd rather get kayoed in the first and say lucky punch but last guy proved a point...for example..i've taken many medicine ball shots hurt like hell but no probs took it like champ..then one day...coach got me good lil high..wow..hurt worse than anything...made me medicine ball shy for a long time..i'm over it now..but...it was always in back of head...so mayb i'd rather not get kayoed as i personaly know it would affect me worse than the 12 rd loss...but either is devestating to me

getting knocked on in the first would be f'in embarrassing. you'd be labeled as chinny and overrated. everybody in your team and fans around the world would question your ability to take a punch until you prove otherwise.

True. I think the toughest losses are the close decisions. Beign KO'd in the first is embarassing, but being outboxed for 12 rounds is frustrating and demoralizing.

At this stage of the game, no one should be surprised when an early KO occurs.

They are all elite boxers. Anyone can get caught with a shot they didn't see coming and be leveled.

I would think that anybody who follows boxing knows that taking damage for 12 rounds is worse. Also it takes more skill to outbox somebody for 12 ends. A lot of 1st round KO's happen because of lucky punches. And after a career of taking that type of beating. You will most likely have some sort of negative medical condition.

i disagree with that. how many elite fighters, or fighters who are on the cusp of being elite get KO'd in the first round?
