it's not that bad if you can last 12 rounds but if the opponent is toying with you its worse than getting ko'd

IMO getting KO'ed that early doesn't really show who is actually the better fighter. Take for instance Edison Miranda we all know that he is very big puncher lets say he KO'ed a prime B-Hop how many people would really believe that Miranda is better than B-Hop?

It doesn't matter if the boxer is a light hitter or not if you get outboxed for 12straight rounds that shows you can't **** with the man that is in front of you. To be completely outboxed for a whole fight is worse because that shows there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you can do to win that fight and thats got to HURT mentally and physically!!!!!!!!

i would say getting outboxed for full 12rds cause it only means that the fighter wasnt able to do **** the whole fight

A light hitting boxer is not going to give you a career ending beatdown where you are not the same ever again. Lets say the win was given to Dirrell in the Froch match which could have been the case if the fight was in the US with a couple of home town judges . That would be a frustrating loss but Froch's reputation would be in tact. Lets say Abraham nails Froch in the first round and Kos him, there will now be big questions about how tough he really is. Any fighter entering the ring with him that can punch will have that at the back of their mind and fancy their chances and that will keep them going.
Being very resilient and having a great chin affects opponents a lot ,they will give up quicker because they know the guy they are up against won't go down. The best example of this is Hagler if you watch his fights you will see at certain points his opponents just give up lose heart and fade. The Mugabe fight is a key example of this,I think it was round 6 and Mugabe nailed Hagler with the best uppercut I have ever seen, it did nothing to Haggler and you could see that Mugabe just gave in there and then.'
A first round KO loss sends out the opposite message to your future opponents. The message is clear you can be taken out with a good shot and a fighter will always have that at the back of his mind no matter how bad things are going for him. That gives him heart and keeps him in the fight.
A points loss to a good boxer is no disgrace. Boxing skills can be improved but a chin can't.

I was thinking this same question...

It looks way worse getting outboxed thoroughly...

Anyone can be caught with a lucky punch...

Depends how you're beaten over the 12 rounds. If its Mayweather-Baldomir type stuff, its more embarrassing than damaging. If its a Calzaghe-Lacy type ******ation for 12 rounds, then thats much more brutal than getting KOed in the 1st.

If you get KOed it might have been a lucky punch, if you get schooled for 12 rounds there's no doubt who's better.
