As someone who done plenty bobbing and weaving I am gonna say that it is probably one of the lesser effective ways to defend yourself, for a couple of reasons: First being is that it is only effective the first couple of times, and for a skilled opponent it is quite easy to time you and expect your next move and second being is that it is damn draining, try to do it for a couple of rounds and you will realize that you are losing speed by heaps and miles. Also, against an opponent with good footwork and feeling of distance you would rarely be able to get on inside, he will always see you coming in.

But you do agree that most trainers do suck, I mean a lot of these trainers never boxed in their life or think they know boxing are being qualified as trainers. Depends on level, I trained with half a dozen of trainers and for the most part all of them taught me one form of head movement or another. another thing is that most trainers I see do not train actual boxing. they train fitness via boxing, so yeah, they actually suck at boxing.Comment

And there lies the problem, look at Chris Arreola, lack of head movement, no bobbing and weaving, no good preparation. I mean he comes like 40lbs overweight, what the hell his is training doing?Depends on level, I trained with half a dozen of trainers and for the most part all of them taught me one form of head movement or another. another thing is that most trainers I see do not train actual boxing. they train fitness via boxing, so yeah, they actually suck at boxing.
Can you imagine Angelo Dundee training a boxer who's 40lbs overweight?Comment

I could imagine anything, and I would say Arreola's main problem is his conditioning, not so much lack of head movement, with conditiioning like that it would not help him much anyway. Everything else is just an icing. And I would say that guys like Arreola have all their hormones ****ed up, mainly from bad food addictions, so he would always be overweight, unless he goes through his case specific therapy.Comment
