Comments Thread For: Felix Sturm Update; Herelius vs Arslan; Dimitrenko

The WBA, in their latest ratings, declared Felix Sturm as the "super champion" with it's regular title has been left vacant. Sturm last fought in July and currently has no fight scheduled due to the contractual dispute with Universum. The decision from the WBA paves the way for mandatory challenger Gennadyi Golovkin to fight the highest available challenger for the regular title - but Golovkin is also involved in a contractual dispute with Universum. The WBA is a joke with their super champion and regular champion ****. Also they stripped Chagaev because Valuev refused to fight him, but Guillermo Jones has been inactive since forever and he doesn't get stripped, I wonder why?

Sturm superchampion? Based on what exactly?

Originally the term was used by WBA when one of their champions won another alphabet-belt. The superchampion was only obligated to make one mandatory defense a year.

Now the term is used in random it seems. Sturm is superchampion at 160 and a REGULAR champion is to be determined. Ward is superchampion at 168 while Sartison is REGULAR champ.

What a mess. Does the WBA have ANY credibility left at all?

Fuck Sturm. Take that belt off him and declare it vacant until either he sorts out his promotional issues, or someone else can claim it.

        Besides, Gevor should be champ.

Agree with you guys. WBA decisions are either highly political or highly ******. In any case, this is full of ****. I wonder if they understand themselves their own policy. And I wonder why WBA is still one of four generally recognized organisations. They don't even got Klitschkos in ratings.

Anyway, I am looking forwards to see Dimitrenko fight again. And let's see if Arslan will be able to make a good come back.

If a Super Champion fights a regular Champion will it be a unification fight and the fighter will then be recognized as the undisputed WBA Champion? And just think if the unification fight was in the Super Middleweight division the fighter would be the WBA Regular Super Super Middleweight Champion of the World.

Super champions almost never fight regular champions. Chris John, for instance, was promoted so Gamboa could get a belt and I'd be willing to bet John and Gamboa won't meet. If Golovkin wins Sturm's title, it wouldn't surprise me to see Sturm never fight him, even if he gets his promotional problems sorted out.

              G. Jones should be stripped of his cruiserweight title, but why is the WBA mandating that the guys they've got ranked 4th and 5th fight for the title. What happened to the guys ranked above them? This smells like Universum/Spotlight pulling strings to get Arlan, who has been on the shelf as long as Jones, another title
