Chavez had a great career

I havent really paid to much attention to him but i was just lookin at his record on boxrec, he has a amazing record, he has 5 losses but he avenged 2 of them, he beat Frankie Randall 2 times after he lost to him and KOed willy wise in the 2nd RD, to avenge that lost, so there are only 2 people that can say they really beat Chavez, Oscar De La Hoya 2 times and Kostya Tszyu, And Chavez was nearing the end of his career on those losses also. And whats so bad about loosing to Tszyu and Oscar, they are great also.

When Chavez lost to Dela and Tszu it was way over for chavez.
The loss to Willy Wise should have never had happened the first time. Chavez should have retired the first time Tszu handed Chavez a brutal beating.

Chávez had a great career, but he is starting to show symptoms of Holyfield Syndrome. Just because he beat a washed up Robinson, it does not mean that he is in shape to continue. He should hang them up with dignity. Prior to the fight, I thought that perhaps if Chávez did well, he would want to fight again. Seems like I was right. Chávez has no credible opponents left. I heard that he was considering Camacho a while ago, but I really think that Camacho could beat him almost as bad as he beat Leonard. Just my opinion.

well he is a grat fighter, but he was involved in some controversial fights, the ones in which he ended up on the good side were

1) taylor 1
2) whitaker
3) randall 2

the controversy were about

1) stoppage
2) decision
3) stoppage??

1)this argument goes on forever, so I won't even get into the stoppage but IMO,

if the fight lasted 15 rounds, chavez would have stopped taylor anyway, cos taylor was damaged forever

on the other hand
if taylor had a better corner and he used his skills to box chavez instead of fight him he would have won an "easier" fight (well as easy as a fight against chavez could be)

or maybe he would not have since...

2) whitaker clearly won the fight but chavez miraKINGlously escaped with a draw on th escore cards... unbelievable, this is one of the worst decision in a world championship fight I can think of

3) who cares about this one chavez was slipping at the time (14 years as a pro... or something like that) if randall fought the chavez of 5-7 years before I don't know how many rounds he would have gone in the FIRST fight

anyway yes he had a great career and an even better record

Not really, I said I never followed Chavez, does that mean Im new 2 boxing, I saw the fight with Meldrick Taylor but thats it, Im only 20, and I started gettin in to boxing about 4 years ago.

Chavez was always one of my favorite fighters but he really started to decline round the time he took on Randall and Whitaker...he wasn;t the same fighter and now he has really lost it....it strikes me as sad when boxers who should have retired years ago are still fighting but that is their choice. Chavez is a legend even if he is fighting past his prime and he did have some questionable outcomes =but in the world of boxing who doesn't?
