WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko commented on the recent knockout win by his brother Wladimir over Eddie Chambers. Wladimir retained his IBF, IBO and WBO belts. Vitali praised Eddie’s fitness which allowed him to last till the 12th round, but noted that the American should have been punished by the referee for his constant attempts at body slam. Funny how Vitali calls the body slamming an illegal move while he doesn't talk about the constant leaning Wlad does on his opponents to tire them out, which too is an illegal move, and Chambers was only retaliating to that leaning cheating that Wlad was doing.
Chambers made a statement by lifting and throwing Wlad to the ground : enough of that leaning. Klits are such jokes.
Vitali believes getting the ko seconds before the final bell is enough to silence the critics ? What an idiot.Last edited by Tiozzo; 03-24-2010, 01:32 AM.

When Echols body-slammed Hopkins in retaliation for repeated fouls by Hopkins, Echols had two points deducted and was warned that he'd be disqualified immediately if he did it again.
It is indeed highly unusual that the referee didn't penalise Chambers for body slamming and especially that he didn't even issue a warning.
The KO may not have silenced the critics but it certainly greatly reduced the criticism compared with what there would have been if it had gone the distance, especially as it was a highlight-reel KO - Chambers was out cold.
And much as you may dislike his style, if you were at all objective you would admit that Chambers is a quality opponent who would have been at least a fringe contender in any era, yet he lost every round. Wlad's style may be soporific but it's extremely effective, and he is hugely under-rated by many people who don't like his style. I find him boring to watch too, but the current version of him (much improved in effectiveness during the past few years) would definitely be a very tough fight for any heavyweight in history, and would have beaten some of the ATGs.Last edited by Dave Rado; 03-24-2010, 08:24 AM.

OTOH, body slamming is a point-deductible offence, and repeated body slamming is a disqualification offence.
