I think Manny/Floyd was not made for this reason.

Top Rank and Golden Boy both know the fight would have done great numbers on PPV and sold out the whole Cowboy Stadium on March. But by Floyd first beating Mosley(#1 Welterweight) the man to beat at 147, his stock rises even higher. they both made this fight even bigger than it already was. Its a good business move, anyone thinking Manny will retire after beating Clottey in a lack luster performance is just delusional, this fight is too big to pass up.

March 13th seemed rushed, four months after Pacquiao-Cotto. Mayweather-Pacquiao may be the biggest money-making fight ever, so I don't really think either side wanted the March 13th date that badly. They couldn't push it back a couple months since Pacquiao will be in his political campaign then, so both sides may just want it later in 2010, meanwhile trying to make the other side look bad as if they were the ones who "killed" the fight.
