    KNOWRISK: mayweather/pacman/mosley DUCKING fighters...long post

I keep hearing about who's ducking who. All that talk is pretty silly. There is a BUSINESS aspect to boxing that ALL fighters with status engage in, regardless how they may try and "act" as if they don't. I'm going to break down some of the "infamous" DUCKING people claim to have happened.

PACMAN: He ducked the best lightweights.....styles make fights. It made the most BUSINESS sense to fight David Diaz cause he had a perfect style for Manny and why not collect another belt with the "safest" champ for you FIRST fight at Lightweight? I'm sure Manny would have fought one of the other top lightweights next except that Oscar wanted to fight him. Who turns down THAT amount of money??? EXACTLY!

He ducked Mosley.....AGAIN why take on Mosley for your first TITLE fight at WW when you can take on Cotto? A fighter with a suspect chin and coming off of TWO wars. Cotto was by no means a "gimmie" fight either. Plus the Bob Arum factor has A LOT to do with it. I know Freddie Roach said the infamous "Shane is too good" statement. But I honestly believe he was just trying to "gracefully" say they can make MORE money with other fighters at that current time.

He ducked Floyd.....I don't think there is ANY fighter who is "scared" to fight Floyd. #1 Because he's NOT a "devastating" puncher. #2 Because the amount of MONEY you'll make regardless if you win/loose/draw. And with that being said I'm sorry, but there's NO EXCUSE for this one NOT happening. He single handedly raised more su****ion than ANY comment Mayweather could of made about PED's. Pacman made himself look like he "ducked" being exposed as a cheater.

Mosley: He ducked Floyd.....I know Shane said the whole my tooth hurts and I need a vacation statement. But I honestly think he was simply caught of guard. If you remember a MEGA fight between Floyd and Shane's BUSINESS partner(OSCAR) was in the works. There was NO WAY Shane was going to take that fight. It would of been "under-cutting" Oscar. Plus being that Oscar runs the company it wouldn't even have been POSSIBLE. It's not as if Golden Boy was going to negotiate on behalf of Shane in spite of the OWNER.

He ducked PWilliams....simply put, PWilliams is not a big enough name right now. Just like Floyd WASN'T when he FIRST called out Shane. It didn't make BUSINESS sense to fight Floyd just like it doesn't make BUSINESS sense to fight PWilliams. Look where it got him.....A fight with Floyd. Smart move

MAYWEATHER: He ducked the best fighters in ALL divisions. Let's be real, there really isn't a need to even address any other weight class besides WW. When Floyd fought Zab AFTER Zab LOST to Baldomir. I didn't like it, but I knew it was a BUSINESS move. They said he "ducked" Baldomir, then he IMMEDIATELY fought Baldomir after "collecting the check" with Zab.

He ducked Margarito....They said Floyd turned down $8million and bought himself out of his Top Rank contract to avoid Margarito. When in REALITY he did it to fight Oscar for $20million. Arum said he would never work with Golden Boy. EASY business decision. Plus when he did it EVERYBODY knew that it was to fight Oscar. But years later public sentiment re-wrote history and said it was to DUCK Margarito.

In closing...fighters fight certain fighters to put themselves in a position to CALL THE SHOTS. Manny didn't always have this luxury. Floyd didn't always have this luxury. And Shane is trying to attain this luxury. Look how long it took Winky Wright to gain prominence. And the minute he lost to Hopkins they boxed him out AGAIN. Boxing is a "chess match"...inside and OUTSIDE of the ring.

A national boxing commission would fix all of this. But of course that'll never happen.

Can't be arsed to read all that, but my 2 cents:

PBF should have fought either Cotto or Margarito. He's about to fight Mosley, and if he wins he'll go for Pac again. If he does this his WW resume and thus his resume on the whole can't be questioned.

Mosley fought guys nobody else would and rematched them after losing to them. He's consistently faced the best competition around him.

Pac has fought the best comp around as well. He better fight the Shane-PBF winner next though.

None of these guys are cowards.

        Nice read.
I think that Pacquiao was to balme for the mayweather-pacquiao fight not happening, mayweather agreed to pacs demands, but pac didnt agree with floyds.

You remind me so much of Mangler. Anyone tell you that?

I would of liked to see Floyd fight Cotto or Margarito. But let's be honest, would YOU turn ignore $20 to fight Oscar instead? Hell, I was shocked he didnt do the REMATCH. I think he didn't cause it was "judged" a split decision the first time when it really was a blowout, and he felt he might get "cheated" in the rematch.

                Glad you enjoyed it.
I can only speculate as to why Pac didn't take the fight. And none of my speculations are good for the sport of boxing.

PBF fan here mate. I do not begrudge anyone for fighting Oscar as any fighter in his right mind would do so. I've never complained about Margarito's $8 million hogwash. Just Arum building a rep for Tony. But in early 08 PBF-Cotto was the fight to be made. There was no point to an Oscar rematch. PBF handled him clearly and the SD was rubbish. Given the hype behind the event, the action was a letdown, and I was disappointed PBF targeted the sequel rather than silencing the critics by facing the Cotto-Margarito winner. I just didn't like him coming back to fight Marquez at WW after Cotto and Margarito had been beaten in the interim.

Don't worry, I wasn't attacking you. Just asking a question. lol
Yea, after the Oscar fight he should of fought Cotto. But boxing is like a relationship....I can't be mad at someone cause they want to break up with somebody. And Floyd said he didn't "love" boxing anymore, so he "broke up" with it. But it definitely would of been nice to see a PRIME Cotto fight Floyd.
