Great thread. Refreshing to hear sensible thoughts and discussion on this board regarding Pacquiao vs Mayweather and Pacquiao in general.
Before I say my piece I don't want knee jerkers going crazy and saying I'm accusing anybody of anything, but here goes...
I think the fact that so many different silly excuses have come from the Pac camp could only mean 2 things, that Team Pacquiao has something to hide and don't want to take the tests or that Arum has said something behind closed doors. I think it would be foolish to blindly refuse to believe a POSSIBILITY that any fighter might be taking PEDs, just as it would be foolish to say that any fighter is DEFINITELY taking PED's without proof.
I do, however, feel that its more plausible that Arum orchastrated something behind closed doors, because Roach et al seemed excited to be part of the event of Mayweather v Pacquiao and found the drug testing request funny as if it was a bit of banter and they knew that it was a typical thing that could happen in negotiations like themselves requesting Floyd pay 10 mill per pound overweight.
Also if you hear Roach talk about Mayweather he respects the guy as a fighter AND as a person. He lets him train at the Wild Card whenever he is in town, so obviously they have an amicable relationship. I think Roach's comments recently that he'd take the test along with his "solution to the drug testing thing" may have been bourne out of frustration of having to play Arum's games and he let it slip to either throw a spanner in the works and try and force Arum's hand.
Arum is clearly bitter about how Mayweather proved him wrong with the De La Hoya fight and the rest of his career since leaving Top Rank. Arum believed there wasn't that sort of money in a DLH fight and for a guy that has been promoting in the sport for so long it would be a bitter pill to swallow that he was wrong and one of his fighters was indeed correct.
I will end this before it becomes mega long as I have to go out...look forward to any views on what I have said...
