Wladimir Klitschko will defend his title in a fight that won't be on TV

How low can heavyweight boxing go?

In case you care — and most of you probably don't — the IBF/WBO heavyweight titles will be on the line Saturday.

Champion Wladimir "Dr. Steelhammer" Klitschko will fight American "Fast" Eddie Chambers in Dusseldorf, Germany
It won't be on pay-per-view — who'd buy it? It won't be on HBO, which doesn't want to go up against the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

The only way to watch the fight in this country is on Klitschko.com for $14.95. The main event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. A capacity crowd of 51,000-plus is expected.

Chambers is 27 and has a 35-1 record with 18 knockouts. Klitschko is 33 and has a 53-3 record with 47 knockouts. Klitschko will make around $5 million and Chambers around $1 million.

You probably won't be missing much. Bodog.com lists Klitschko at -800 (bet $100 to win $800) and Chambers at +$500 (bet $100 to win $500).

Buster Douglas was a much bigger underdog (42-to-1) when he beat the supposedly invincible Mike Tyson in Tokyo in 1990. That supposed mismatch was on free TV and some of us even tuned in. If Chambers shocks Klitschko, most of us would have to take his word for it.

The explanation of the odds are wrong, bodog would lose their ass if they paid 8to1 on Klitscho and 5 to 1 on Chambers, (bet on both and win?)

it takes $800 to win $100 on Wlad. and $100 wins you $500 on Chambers.

But that aside, it really is sad and a sign that something needs to change in the heavyweight division, No one in the US other than Hardcore boxing fans knows the title is up for grabs on saturday, and almost no one cares, to be honest the average person doesn't know who the heavyweight champ is, and with good reason, there are too many belts.

IF wlad had all the titles it'd be a different story i think.

But it is outrageous that a 35-1 American is fighting for the title, and America doesn't care.

Boxing used to live and die in the heavyweight division, now, not so much.

    Sad really.

I was unaware that the USA use the only country with TV.

I would like to see this fight on tv, the way chambers battered his last opponent, also a huge eastern european says this might actually be interesting.
