How low can heavyweight boxing go?
In case you care — and most of you probably don't — the IBF/WBO heavyweight titles will be on the line Saturday.
Champion Wladimir "Dr. Steelhammer" Klitschko will fight American "Fast" Eddie Chambers in Dusseldorf, Germany
It won't be on pay-per-view — who'd buy it? It won't be on HBO, which doesn't want to go up against the NCAA men's basketball tournament.
The only way to watch the fight in this country is on Klitschko.com for $14.95. The main event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. A capacity crowd of 51,000-plus is expected.
Chambers is 27 and has a 35-1 record with 18 knockouts. Klitschko is 33 and has a 53-3 record with 47 knockouts. Klitschko will make around $5 million and Chambers around $1 million.
You probably won't be missing much. Bodog.com lists Klitschko at -800 (bet $100 to win $800) and Chambers at +$500 (bet $100 to win $500).
Buster Douglas was a much bigger underdog (42-to-1) when he beat the supposedly invincible Mike Tyson in Tokyo in 1990. That supposed mismatch was on free TV and some of us even tuned in. If Chambers shocks Klitschko, most of us would have to take his word for it.
