Mosleys Plan of Attack for Mayweather: Outwork or an All-out Assault?

I'm going to say a few things now because I tend to repeat myself.

Mayweather is not invincible he can be beaten, history has proven this..

Out of all the boxing matches happening all the time it is very rare for this to happen.

What I know is; Mayweather is a experienced, undefeated multi-world champ in several weight classes. He has had little trouble over his 40 pro fight career apart from hiccups that he has outright corrected. He takes very little risks and when he wins he wins big, he is also boring.

What Mayweather is not: Mayweather isn't a hot-tempered, attack-first Mike Tyson fallen into unfortunate situations.

Mayweather is not a ****y, showboating Roy Jones who has driven his career using his god like talent, but his luck ran out and once that went it has only been downhill.

Mayweather is not an overhyped Wank Warren fighter with a china chin

Mayweather is not a Cotto being pounded by 10 ounces of concrete.

If there was a list of Boxers who would most likely fall into this category then Mayweather would be at the bottom, Mayweather uses so many precautions it makes a rare event even rarer.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Mosley's Plan of attack (My take on it)

Mosley must pick One strategy and stick with it, he will have to execute this plan and be clever by disguising, being unpredictable ect ...

Why?; Because Mosley is near 40 years old, he is not as fit or young as Floyd, most of his attributes have taken a hit as he has aged, he is not Pacman he can't do what he does in the 12th round what he does in the 1st.

    Outwork Floyd

    - He can reserve energy keep this up and make Floyd fight his fight as well as null his counterpunching if he makes Floyd chase him

    - He tries & Outwork Floyd and gets completely outworked by the much better conditioned and fast Floyd, he gets shutout through all 12 rounds

    All out Assualt

    - He manages to catch Floyd during the first 4 rounds when he is still fresh, once caught he doesn't let go and finishes Floyd

    - He does this and he gets countered and by the 6th he is just hanging in there and is open to be TKOd due to fatigue.

    Mixing both up

    - He manges to outwork Floyd during the early rounds & captializes on this in the later rounds and wins by SD or very Close UD.

    - He does this and finds himself getting Outpointed, once he has given away all early rounds he gets desperate and goes for the KO, he gets Shutted out.

I did this because the predictions are opposites of the rainbow, some say he MUST go for the KO he cannot win by points, others say he MUST outwork Floyd and outpoint him.

TL;DR Floyd is boring and will win by boring UD

I want to see the bell ring for the first round and Shane just stand there in his corner and wait for Mayweather to come to him. It would be funny.

As for the fight, maybe stroll for the first couple of rounds and force Mayweather to engage or throw the occasional jab. After he has settled into some sort of rhythm, Mosley should let it all hang out and go for a stoppage.

He isn't going to get the better of Mayweather over twelve rounds so he will need to stop him to win the fight. Even if it is at the risk of getting stopped himself, he should go for the real glory of winning the fight. Lasting the twelve rounds without trying to win is worse than trying to win and getting stopped, in my opinion.

TAKEN FROM YOUR PREVIOUS THREAD, I POSTED THIS (sorry, I am too lazy to retype these many words)

Mayweather is a phenomenally gifted boxer coupled with his techniques...

I think that no one can hit him:

            • from a distance, meaning from a jab range simply because of his footwork while his positioning/hand placement/techniques wouldn't allow for an opponent (orthodox) to throw his RIGHT CROSS.

It is too telepathically obvious for Mayweather because he can:

            • SHOULDER ROLL (with the rear hand parry)
            • FADE
            • DUCK
            • move to his lateral left or right
            • move backwards

Having said that...MOSLEY can't use the typical 1-2 (LEFT JAB-RIGHT CROSS) from a typical range. For that to connect there has to be a "bridge"....something transitional.

MAYWEATHER is susceptible of getting hit from SOUTHPAW's LEFT CROSS (see JUDAH fight) though obviously it has to be well-timed. I think that LEFT HOOKS (not from the jab range) is of another....meaning from a close range.

The main key is the "bridge" (see JEET KUNE DO)

Mosley's Left Hooks are not tight either, he brings it too wide or his right crosses. Having said that, I think that it would be hard or very difficult to time a LEFT on Mayweather.

            HOW THEN?

MAYWEATHER is a master at countering his opponent's left jab with a simple:

            • half-step (back) then with his accurate RIGHT CROSS then ducking or rolling underneath it. (See Marquez fight where it is more accentuated since Marquez is too slow for him).

Therefore it is highly contingent for MOSLEY to draw MAYWEATHER to throw his RIGHT CROSS then:

            • do a lateral movement to the left and execute a LEFT HOOK to the body and/or LEFT HOOK to the head.

But that would be very difficult since MAYWEATHER is a counter puncher with his RIGHT CROSS.

Another one I see is MOSLEY's LEAD RIGHTS just to offset the typical and obvious 1-2 (left jab and right cross). LEAD RIGHTs then followed with the LEFT HOOK.

And so with the ever elusive MAYWEATHER these punches should be well-timed and followed up with a combination to bring him down. Odds are very slim but still there for MOSLEY.

My best bet is Pacquiao being an unorthodox (Southpaw) and his high-volume/high pressure style but still not an easy task.

So how do I see this fight?

            • If the typical Mosley vs Mayweather...I see a UD for Mayweather. Mosley has to have the unpredictable footwork, lateral movement and a countering LEFTs (and rights) to catch Mayweather flatfooted.

MOSLEY MUST CUT OFF THE RING to Mayweather's RIGHT (past his right cross) while also CUTTING Mayweather's LEFT to get away from his crosses and his lunging LEFT HOOKS.

Therefore the CUT RIGHT or CUT LEFT should be quick, decisive and with combinations of punches to offset MAYWEATHER's balance. Something that Pacquiao had in his attributes.

But a well-timed LEFT HOOK and CROSS can drop MAYWEATHER seeing that MOSLEY is that good.
