boxrec's rankings are based purely on number crunching. I think they just take the records of the guys each fighter beat and use them to create a statistic, sort of the way they have the computer rankings in college football.

Obviously these rankings are a little off, to say the least, but it's still interesting to see the way the numbers turn out.

They are not on the list as they are still active. I think they only show boxers who retired.

I like Floyd Patterson and Sonny Liston high up as they are two of my all time favorite heavyweights, but I certainly dont know about Henry Cooper of Jack Dempsey. I think they probably overrate fighters in the 'Ali' era of boxing as there a number of guys who fought Ali (such as Cooper) who seem to be higher up then they deserve.

First I wondered where Ruiz was, then realized the list was only for retired boxers, not those who are still champs. When he retires he'll be top 15 for sure.

If Ruiz is not in the top two all time then it would be an absolute robbery. Although, Ali might still have the top spot.
