Personally, I thought Hopkins was unstoppable. He always seems cool, in control, and strong in his fights. But after watching Winky's awesome performance against Tito and thinking about a possible matchup between the two, I'm nervous about anybody who fights Wright. I just can't imagine how Bernard would beat Winky. I know that Hopkins is one of the most intelligent, skillful opponents, so somehow he'd find a way to win, but I sure as hell don't see many people getting through that solid defense of Winky's and that stiff jab. If I had seen Winky fight before the Tito fight, then maybe this would have come to mind earlier, but as it is, Hopkins' mediocre performance against Eastman and Winky's great showing against Tito compared side by side make the potential match up between the two a much less certain thing for me.
Why Winky vs Hopkins is getting so much attention

he can fight winky toe to toe -
tito wanted to fight winky toe to toe also. I'm gonna give winky the credit for that; he kept trinidad off with the jab and covered up when tito got close.
I agree that hopkins performance changes accordingly, so how do you think he'd adapt?
I'm assuming that hopkins would win, cause he's superhuman and all, but i have to idea how.Comment

Winky is a versatile fighter. He can adapt through his opponents and his number one weapon? That dreaded stiff jab. Once that Jab started landing in your nose you are history. Hopkins did the similar style against Eastman in his last fight But I think Winky does a better job. This fight is getting so much attention for a lot of reasons. One of them Hopkins is getting old and people are getting sick of seeing the same Middleweight champ over and over again.Comment

I dont think Winky is versaitile fighter. And that is his weakness. He is not going to win every fight with his right jab alone. Relying on your right jab for everything is the defenition of one dimensional. He is just lucky Tito has no ability whatsoever to adapt to anything. Belive this, Winky is not going to go to far just trying win his fights with a jab alone. Its very one dimensional, hardly versatile. There is a million ways to adapt to right jab. Ordinarily just throwing a decent left jab is enough to negate it. Winky is one dimensional compared to Hopkins, he would lose to Hopkins. I think Jermaine Taylor is a more dangerous opponent for Hopkins than Winky is. It wont be as hard you think to negate Winky's jab. It wont even take Bernard Hopkins to do it.Comment

exactly, Hopkins IS the versitile fighter...Winky does not move like Roy Jones and Hopkins is not an out of shape cruiserweight (like he was in his debut fight which was a loss)Originally posted by McKayI dont think Winky is versaitile fighter. Hopkins throws those uppercuts...Hopkins doesn't fight to knock you out...so don't expect him to pull a Tito and just wing pointless bombs to Winky's gloves...Hopkins throws punches from all angles...Hopkins doesn't just walk in like Winky's recent opponents...Hopkins is VERY cautious these days because he knows he is at the top...at a high level...and fighting to please the crowd while losing will get him no where...he knows he has to just win his fights...Comment
