Just thought this a while ago, about Pacquiao's best career wins.
I just can't think if any of Pacquiao's win above Super Featherweight
can eclipse his destruction of Barrera last 2003. And also the win
over Sasakul being a bit forgotten.
1. Marco Antonio Barrera I (2003)
- This was Pacquiao's biggest win. Being a huge underdog,
almost 99% in the boxing world, fans, analysis and boxers
chose Barrera to win by annihilation. But Pacquiao prove
otherwise and was the one to give Barrera his most brutal
lost. Before this fight, Barrera fought like 4 southpaws
in a row including the win over the once unbeatable
Naseem Hamed. Barrera was also a Top 3 Pound for pound
boxer of the world at that time.
2. Erik Morales II (2006)
- Pacquiao's 2nd best win was the 2nd fight against Morales.
The boxing world is about to label Pacquiao as a one-hit
wonder in case he loss to Morales. But he showed that he
is not a one dimensional fighter and gave Morales his first
knockout defeat.
3. Miguel Angel Cotto (2009)
- For his 3rd best win, Pacquiao has made history to be the
only fighter to win 7 titles in 7 weight division, 4 of the
original weight divisions. Cotto being physically larger and
stronger has made the fight an instant classic especially
rounds 2, 3 and 4 that is almost reminiscent of the 3 brutal
rounds between Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns.
4. Oscar De La Hoya (2008)
- Boxing writers, fans and the mainstream media considered this
fight a farce, a joke and non-other than but just a money fight.
Pacquiao was given only a puncher's chance since there is no
way he could beat a better and bigger boxer. But Pacquiao proved
speed kills and made De La Hoya quit on his stool after the
8th round that ended the illustrious career of the Golden Boy.
5. Chatchai Sasakul (1998)
- A very underrated win. Sasakul was by then considered the best
flyweight in the world in 1998. Pacquiao was just a raw brawler
back then, and is only 19 years old. Pacquiao was losing almost
every round and suddenly in the 9th round, he nailed Sasakul
with a straight left that left him out for the 10 count.
Pacquiao fought with desire and didn't get discouraged.
6. Ricky Hatton (2009)
- Pacquiao was the favorite in the fight, but many experts felt
like, that Pacquiao was not a real welterweight and criticize
him for beating an old De La Hoya in his last fight. The fight
is early being considered as Fight Of the year but it turns
out to be the one sided beating of the year in favor to Pacquiao.
And also the Knockout of the Year, maybe even knockout of the
decade.
7. Juan Manuel Marquez II (2008)
- Pacquiao split decision win over Marquez was a controversial
win against a fighter in his prime and in his best weight.
Marquez coming from a win over Barrera and Juarez, and Pacquiao
a win over Barrera and Solis, the fight was dead even. The
knockdown scored in round 3 gave Pacquiao the win.
8. Lehlohonolo Ledwaba (2001)
- This is Pacquiao's first fight in the United States and he
scored an upset to one of the best Super Bantamweights in 2003
against Ledwaba. Many thought that Pacquiao's aggression will
play against him against a good tactical boxer in Ledwaba who
possesses a good jab and excellent defensive stance.
9. Erik Morales III (2006)
- Not as big of a win as the 2nd fight with Marquez, but is
certainly better than Pacquiao's 2nd win against a survival
mode Barrera in 2007. The rubber match with Morales was the tie
breaker and both fighters sold out the Thomas and Mack center
arena in Vegas. Pacquiao demolished Morales in 3 rounds knocking
him down 3 times before the stoppage. Morales proved also 9 months
later that Pacquiao was the only fighter to badly hurt him as
he was able to put David Diaz to the edge and nearly won the
Lightweight championship of the world.
10. Joshua Clottey (2010)
- Even though the fight could be the most boring fight Pacquiao
has ever been. He was able to perform a total shutout to the
Ghanian fighter Clottey by winning every round and not letting
Clottey to get his punches off. He threw more than 1,200 punches
in the fight, making it his highest punch output in his entire
career. Also this fight proves Pacquiao's incredible crowd drawing
power. There were nearly 51,000 who bought the tickets and
watch live inside the Cowboys Stadium in Texas, thus making it
one of the biggest live gate attendance in USA boxing history in
the last 30 or more years. It is just behind the crowd attendance
of Ali vs. Spinks and Chavez vs. Whitaker.

It should be at least #3
