I wonder?
I wouldn't rule it out judging by the way he fought. Should he have won he would have received a huge payday against the May-Mosley winner so there was definitely something to fight for. Yet Clottey fought as if there was something serious he might lose if the fight ended early.
Think about it, Clottey spends his whole career getting short money and little respect and now he comes into this fight where he gets what 15-20% and none of the TV money. So Clottey has give or take a million bucks coming to him, likely his first and last big payday.
Maybe Clottey says to himself "**** I can bet huge money on myself to last the distance and get even money back."
This way Clottey walks away with twice the amount he was going to get plus he is saved from a knockout that might have happened if he took a couple chances.
