this might just be the ******est thread ever made on NSB. Infact, I want to print it and frame it to give to a friend of mine who got scammed out of 10G's to remind him that there are indeed, dumber people than him in this world.

I guess I have to repeat myself for those who just jumped off the short bus...
This thread is a stab at the fight itself. Never once did I say that new fans are not god for boxing. You just need to bring them in the right way. I can tell you one thing though. When a fight is hyped up to a bigger deal than what it really is, and you have tons of people who don't know **** about the sport come out to watch, and they're witness to the hore**** that was put out this weekend, then let me tell you, those people will not be back for another boxing event, let alone even buy a ppv. It's a huge letdown that leaves them with a bad taste in there mouth for the sport. Here's an example of what a letdown can do for boxing. I remember going to the Chavez /Whitaker fight in the newly constructed Alamodome. Now mind you, that was actually a good matchup, so I'm not comparing that part, (just the part about what a huge letdown can do for the sport) problem was the fight was tainted with the horrible decision. There were a lot of boxing fans, mostly Mexican Americans who lived in San Antonio, that were there, but being that it was a new venue that was huge, it brought out many first timers, the majority actually. I remember talking to people after the fight and they all said the same thing. "This was not what I expected; I'll never watch boxing again". They haven't done a huge fight there since. So what if a fight brings out tons of people, and yeah they make some money, but in the long run it hurts the sport and damages the reputation of boxing more than it already is. Each time something like this happens it sets boxing back years.

Yeah, I'm very pissed that 50K people attended a boxing match. I'm infuriated really. How dare these people purchase tickets to a fight and then have the nerve to enjoy themselves, especially near the city I live in. I was completely disgusted. I mean, I was standing up telling people to go home. Yelling at them to go spend their money attending UFC fights and that they weren't welcome here. The 20-30 hardcore boxing fans would have been enough to make the fight an event itself. I didn't even enjoy the fight as these, inconsiderate, loud, obnoxious people cheered and yelled. I mean, WTF? Who DOES that at a sporting event? This was truly a horrible night. I hope NOTHING of the same happens ever again.

I would be more content if a WW champion chooses a lightweight champion. I'm sure REAL HARDCORE boxing fans would attend that.
