The Jose Luis Castillo Appreciation Thread.

I'd like to give props to one of the greatest LW's of our time and space now that it appears his stellar career is past.

He was a great technician on the inside with a vicious body attack, an iron chin, great heart and great overall footwork.

A lot of people mistake him for an unskilled laborer in the ring but nothing was farther from the truth.

Castillo was exceptionally skilled in almost every way and was more or less a complete fighter.

I hope he is remembered with the fondness he deserves.

And in my humble opinion, he engaged in the greatest fight I've ever seen with Chico.

Long live Jose Luis Castillo. We haven't forgotten about you brother.

I hope you enjoy your well deserved retirement.

Props to a great fighter. A great inside fighter at that. I also thought he beat the boat buyer the first time around.

Thought he deserved the Corrales win. The ref should have given him a few more seconds.

Castillo deserves his respect. He came to a bad end, physically damaged by Chico, having conditioning problems, and fighting for money rather than to win. But he put in his work and should have every boxing fan's respect. He lost his most memorable fight, but he had a strong run at LW for years. Fond farewell to El Temible.

He helped give us one of the greatest fights of all time. Really good fighter, sad to see his career end like it did but he is still one of the best lightweights recently.

                    RIP

I'm glad he at least got a paycheck and a little of the spotlight- he deserved it.
