    Ike Quartey vs. Verno Phillips

This fight might be happening in a few months. This is Ike's 2nd fight back from retirement & would taking on the tough Verno Phillips who just lost to Ouma. Who wins fight a 154 lbs?

I question Ikes desire for boxing, because of the 5yr layoff...Considering that he's taking on such a tough opponent in Verno Philips so early in his comeback, tells me he's in a rush for one more big payday before retiring for good.

Both fighters are 35yrs old,but Verno Philips has been more active and is currently a top3 154 pounder on many lists.Quartey's in for a long night and I think Verno will punch him back into retirement,so Phillips by TKO late.

I would like Quartey to win, because it would setup a fight with Ouma later this year, but I just cant see him beating a tough veteran like Verno Phillips with just one tune up fight, after a long 5yr retirement.Just cant see it.

The fight isn't happening in a few months, it's happening next month, on the undercard of the Tarver vs Johnson rematch!

I have to think Verno has the edge no doubt....

I think that it's going to be a great fight while it lasts. Phillips isn't a big puncher so I wonder if he can hurt Quartey. We'll get to see what Quartey has left & if he can make a title run or will Phillips be able out-box/slug him. Quartey will make this fight a war.

Put your points on Phillips. It's 2005; Quartey isn't a contender anymore.
