i agree with everything you said except the sky announcers are so ****ing crap it's actually unbelievable and im british i can't stand themFirst off let me say a few things. This was not Pacmans fault. Although I'm not a fan, I appreciate him throwing 1200 punches, and at times standing in front of Clottey just tempting him to let loose. Also... Im not one of those guys saying boxing will die. It will never die, that's just ******ed.
Boxing I believe has been doing great lately, and has had tons of coverage on ESPN. Sold 51k tickets at Dallas. Probably around 800-1mil PPV's, and right there is the problem..
All these people, some being casual fans tuned in to see what all the hype was about. What they got was a bedtime story. 3 under card fights which seemed to go on and on and on. The never ending ****ing story. Not to mention the embarrassment of Castillo even being in the ring.
The thing that really got me was Clottey. Came in on his entrance dancing, and playing it up for the fans, just to go in the ring and not even take one chance. Not one. I for one knew the fight would not be close, but never did I think Clottey had zero heart, and would not atleast recognize he was getting destroyed and take a ****king chance.
Im sorry to say it, but any casual fan, or old time past fan trying to give boxing a chance was just lost last night. It was a serious set back for boxing, and it sickens me. I was so hyped to see the fight sell well, and get a good amount of PPV's, but what played out was disgusting to me. I literally walked away from my stream thinking I wasted 3 dollars.
**** you Bob Arum. It's people like you that are hurting and setting boxing back. ESPN is just sitting back waiting for the call to air some big time exciting fights. This money hungry douche does everything he can to maximize his profits. The mother ****er already has hundreds of millions. Put back into the sport what it gave to you.
On a side note. Im American. Sky Sports>>HBO in terms of announcers, adn it's not even close.
lampley was on a mad one though in that fight the commentating was basically a three way argument between him, stewart and kellerman
i think they were just as disgusted with Clottey's poor show as we wereComment
