why did judges hate pernell whitaker??

im sure you all know about the chavez fight.

but i just watched delahoya vs whitaker agian and i noticed that the judges had the fight...
    116 to 111
    116 to 110 (jerry roth)
    116 to 110

thats so much bull jerry roth is suppose to be a top flight ref and he had delahoya winning by 6 rounds wtf???6 rounds??????

    6 rounds!!!!!

not to mention whitaker got an extra point for knocking delahoya down in the 9th.

I feel sorry for pernell whitaker, the man had one of the best defences ever, and he gets robbed for it..

I haven't seen that fight in a long time. I think what hurt Whitaker in that fight was the fact that he didn't fight much going down the stretch. He was too defensive and not enough offense at the end of the fight and in a close fight that will hurt anybody.

he had great defense but like mic573 said maybe it was just lack of offense

In many peoples eyes Whitaker won that fight by a hair. I personally think DLH won by a round (as much as I hate to say it) and Pernell wasn't busy enough going down the stretch. I was screaming at him on my TV to throw some combinations just to score because I knew DLH couldn't put him out but it never happened.

It's hard to make a guy who was undefeated at the time, with such a promising money making career lose..

De La Hoya received a gift..
