Floyd Mayweather: Why do you like him?

What kind of question is this? Can I assume you only like your female friends and dislike your male friends?

This thread is about why so many people take time out to defend the guy, his actions in and out of the ring, his choice of opponents etc.

I understand he's no Evander Holyfield, but some of the stuff people say about his ''cherry picking'' is ridiculous and over the top. He's got a very good resume, just not a great one. Other than fighting Cotto and Margarito before he retired, there's not really any other fighter I desperately wanted to see him fight throughout the course of his career. That's just me of course. If he fights Mosley and then Pacquaio he'll still have a cherry-picker label on him from many fans, despite the fact that Mosley & Pacquaio are better fighters and bigger threats to him than Cotto and Margs ever were.

First of all I'm a boxing fan who appreciates all styles from the sport. I respect professional fighters. Mayweather is one of the best pure boxers I have ever seen.He's one of the best defensive fighters I've ever seen in the history of the sport. That's all that matters to me. I don't care what he does outside the ring because I don't know him personally or all of the details of his personal life. It doesn't affect my life one way or the other because I don't know the man and neither do you. I also don't havea aproblem with his "chice of opponents" because I understand the business aspect of boxing. If you watch boxing for "personalities" or "out of the ring" actions, you should switch your focus to TMZ or People magazine.

I like him for being a great defensive boxer, creating a buzz for boxing, and I like his personality when he's not talking **** about someone. He's a nice guy outside the ring and when he's away from the cameras.
