He will be fighting at 154 against one of the champions, since King owns them all he will get his shot.
Since Mayorga is getting his shot at 154, I wouldnt be surprised to see Mayorga vs Castillejo and Santos vs Spinks and then the winner of those fight and the winner of those face each other and unify.
Spinks will be back on Kings ppv card in the fall.
Hmm, had no idea he was moving up. Guess it's hard to keep up with all of the news. Thanks for the info.
If Spinks beat Santos maybe all the Margarito fans here would get off Zab's case a bit, though I think they have already made their excuses as to why he lost that one.

Santos vs Margarito was so damn ugly, although Margarito doesnt belong at 154 or maybe he does and was just neutralized. Margarito sure looked good against Lujan and Cintron but those are hardly high caliber opponents.
Since Spinks is moving up, you know King wants to get that big money rematch against Mayorga.

Yeah, don't mean to get off-topic, but the whole thing with peopel being in love with Margarito these days really bugs me for some reason. If people would just say that they think he might give Zab trouble, then sure, I'd agree. But it's just the same old thing where a guy looks good against a couple of supbar opponents and suddenly he's the best in the business. Something about the internet that I think encourages this behavior...all these people find each other on-line and start to think that they're all right.
As for Spinks - Mayorga, I can't really see the rematch turning out any different from the first fight. Though you never know with Mayorga, which is why it's always interesting to watch his fights.

I agree about the Margarito thing but see people think he is the best, because they all thought Cintron was jesus and would succeed but I mean he struggled and tanked with Reid. Right there should have been solid proof he wasnt much. But whatever they will be believe what they want, boxing fans are hardly realists when it comes to the sport.
I see the rematch between the two being worst for Mayorga. Mayorga looked like garbage at 160 and 154, he showed promise at 147 and got dominated. Cory has a frame to move to 160 if he wished Mayorga does not. Cory will be in better shape and less strained at 154 and I see him being quicker and stronger at a more comfortable weight.
Spinks would embarrass Mayorga, Spinks will NEVER trade with anybody and Mayorga doesnt really have the speed or power at 154 to catch Spinks like Zab did. Mayorga left his punch at 147. I dont care what anybody says he hasnt looked good since the forrest fight, dropping your hands and taking Trinidads hooks hardly grants you as being great.
I'm going to do what these boxers in the game do and get down to 105 and come in a 125 during the fight and beat up these little midgits fighting at that weight.

Good point with Margarito/boxing fans in general. I guess the thing is that a lot of people are hard on Zab and it bothers me. I guess if you look foolish in the ring once some people will never forgive you.
I agree about Mayorga. He's good for in the ring theatrics but his punching power isn't what it used to be. Besides moving up in weight age is probably starting to become a factor now, especially since he won't do the conditioning necessary to combat it.
To answer an earlier question, Spinks, in earlier interviews, always looked normal to me. Today, tho, he seemed drunk or stoned (or both). You know, when you talk really slow and kind of slur a word here and there. That's what he looked like on the interview.
BTW, he said he's coming back Oct 1st at 154 against a champ. King doesn't own Ouma so he doesn't have all the belts at 54 yet. It will probably be a snoozer if Spinks takes on Santos (and I think Santos has the power to KO Spinks, BTW). I'd love to see him in against Ouma or Simms (IBF and WBA belts, respectively).
I respect Cory, but I just don't see him cutting it at 54. I had Mayorga beating him (Ok, it was a draw because of point deductions, but you get the picture) in their match and those 5 "slips" weren't slips, if you know what I'm saying. Two were legit KDs, IMHO. But, that's neither here nor there. I guess we'll have to see what he brings at 54.
The talent pool at 147 is far deeper than at 154, Ouma might look good with sluggers and people that will throw back but he will look average in there with a boxer. Nobody at 154 stands a chance against Spinks, he is to good of a boxer and a smart one at that, no I am not saying that because I am a Spinks fan it is the truth. He has no trouble staying on the outside and jabbing his way to a victory, that is his style.
Bombardier- Mayorga thinks he doesnt have to train to win just make weight and come in and swing, it is entertaining but it is taking its toll and is very noticeable. Mayorga had potential but has taken one to many shots and doesnt condition properly to do anything exciting. He is the Mike Tyson of the lower weight classes. He thinks he is invincible.
