*****S forgot Pac-Cotto was the 3rd highest gate revenue in the history of boxing and a complete sold otu also.

Mayweather would be lucky to sell 1k tickets fighting Clottey in Cowbows Stadium.. People depend on his opponent
    s fanbase..

Floyd vs Clottey in Cowboy Stadium? Lol freaking Joke.

Actually the cheapest seats were $35 but they were way up in the sky. Still, there were 40yard screens so you get the atmosphere and an amazing view anyway.

I have to say, people are using the normal ticket price as a criticism - which is bizarre. Yes, if tickets were $500 a pop or whatever the insane price is at Vegas these days, the crowd would have been half as big or even less, but then why should boxing be an exlusive sport like that? I think Top Rank and Pacquiao should be applauded for making boxing accessible. There are many fans who attended this event who wouldn't even consider going to Vegas because of the outrageous costs involved. Boxing just got in front of a wider audience and made headlines for positive reasons and I really hope this is the beginning of a trend and not a one off occasion.

Those $35 tickets actually didnt have seats, they were free standing. As stated in different post fight articles, the biggest winners were Jones the stadium owner, and boxing in general. As you said, it has reached out to more people. And that is what is hopefully achieved with Cotto-Foreman in New York as well.

                This is good news.

Boxing will remain alive and well in the US, as long as the sport has exciting fighters like Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley (not just boring runners like Floyd Mayweather and Andre Dirrell).

                  This is an absurd post.

                  MGM Grand capacity is 17,157

There were no $20 tickets for Pacquiao-Clottey. The Pacquiao fight was priced for real people to attend, genuine sports fans wanting to go to an event, not just blocks of casino sales and to corporations. The MGM Grand Mayweather event ticket prices were $150-1250 with a limit of 2 $150 seats each. Ringside tickets to Pacquiao-Clottey were still $700. The people that paid $35 basically showed up to a party where they could see the fight on the big screen and say they were there. The vast majority of tickets were still sold at regular price increments based on a $700 ringside.

Pacquiao-Clottey still drew 3x what Mayweather can draw even if it's a sell-out. And acting like the only way they filled the stadium was giving away/selling cheap tickets is completely wrong.

And here are sources, not just kids typing random absurd inaccuracies on a message forum

                  Pacquiao fight attendance announced: http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns

Spin all you want, root for who you want, but the live gate for Pacquiao/Clottey will have exceeded Mayweather/Mosley.

We'll see how much the live gate revenue ends up totaling.

Great post! I can't believe the people who actually applaud it when tickets are priced so high that only rich people can attend. They are not true boxing fans.
