The candidates are Juan Diaz in a rematch, Chris John in a rematch of their controversial fight in Indonesia, or Paulie Malinaggi if he gets past Amir Khan. If there is a rematch with Juan Diaz, it is likely to take place in Mexico City. If the opponents come down to John or Malinaggi the fight would take place here in the United States. It's not clear whether John would be willing to move all the way up to 135, but rumor has it that he is struggling to make 126. Regardless of who JMM fights, HBO will televise it.

The only opponent I'm remotely interested in seeing JMM fight is Chris John even though JMM is considered to be a lot more filled out than he is at the higher weights. That fight has unfinished business to it. Those other guys do absolutely nothing for his legacy and if he goes in that direction, I'm gonna know why I'm a bigger fan of Erik Morales.Comment

Chris John? How ironic that the JMM fans who cried about JMM-Floyd turn around and have their guy trying to fight a 126 Pounder.Comment

Yeah, but the difference is John and JMM have history together and unfinished biz. Going after a Juan Diaz rematch is a bigger ***** move in my view.Comment
