  • Pacquiao vs Clottey question???

    Why wasnt there a catchweight for this fight. His last fight , which IMO was a smaller guy naturally than Clottey , he made him come down 2 pounds more , but with Clottey is ok??

    Why is this??

    Is it Cuz Roach knows Pac can handle the opponents weight by now , or is it cu he tought Miguel was a bigger threat.

    Honestly , I tought Cotto was going to be a big test for pac , but it didnt turn out that way.

    I like to think of Clottey as a steping stone. Why exactly u ask. Well , he is a tough mo****er in there and I know that. But to me is his work rate and his mentality. He doesnt do enough. So is a steping stone , not just to move ahead , but a steping stone in the sense , that If you cant beat the laziest(in th ring) elite ww. Then you just dont have a chance.

    the more I look at this fight , the more I have to incline on pac's side. Even tho It would be exciting for the sport , to have the upset , and not to mention I think Clottey deserves it.

    I just dont see Clottey doing enough to finish pac. And we all know he wont get the deciscion. His defense is not going tu hurt pac.

    So anyways. my bad I made it this long , but what do you guys think??

    Does Roach see Clottey slacking enough that he just knew it was going to be an easy fight , the same at 144, 145 or 147?? (Clotteys weight will be well over 155) or not??

    Or does he see Pac , man handling Clottey even being the naturally smaller man. Does he know that Pac can manouver his way to a KO victory even against a tough opponent that will outweight him by at least 10 pounds.

    If he asked Miguel to come down to 145 , Why not Clottey?? Who's defense,chin,strenght,size makes him much tougher to beat.

    So since he fought 1 catch-weight fight he suppose ever fight from now on a catch-weight fight?

    And, lets say he would of asked Clottey to fight at a cathc-weight this thread would of been about how Pac made another fighter fight at a catch-weight.

      Because Clottey does not have heavy hands like Cotto.

          I think overall because Cotto is stronger and more skilled. Roach has said many times that he looks for ways to get advantages...if he can sap any amount of power away then its good. I think they know for sure that there are no advantages other than size that Clottey has over Pac.

          I just watched the Cotto/Pac fight again...I'm beginning to want a rematch under new stewardship.

            So you come in here with ur small brain and dont adress the obvious.

            Clottey = tougher than Cotto.

            Cotto = catchweight

            Clottey = not?

            why???? =

            Did I say he was supose to amke it a catchweight. I didnt , right. So Im asking , if he made the smaller man easier to beat for pac come down. Why not the fighter who is going to be much much tougher to beat. And i Think I gave 2 reasons as to why not. Why Itd ditn have to be a catchweight.

            COMPRENDE???

              Tell me u saw what i saw . Tell me u saw the potentil Cotto had to beat manny. He had the right tools , but the wrong trainer , gameplan and mentality. He should have never exchanged , he should have lead the offense , while fighting from a defensive perspective , and take his time , and chase pac. He did it while getting hit for a bit. Why not doing it , while blocking and not letting manny land anything.

                I like Cotto, but naww, I dont think he would ever beat Manny, even with a better trainer or gameplan or plaster. Manny is just too good, and his workrate is too much for Cotto to handle.

                  Si esa es una posibilidad. Pero lo que pasa es lo siguiente. Cotto empezo el primer round con una guardia del carajo. Y mira lo que el hace cuando pacquiao tiraba. Blockeaba firme .Y pacquiao se devolvia hacia atras. Jabeaba , le pegaba. se plantaba en su stance , blockeando. Pacquiao tiraba , y Miguel blockeaba firme y nada le pegaba. El problema de pacquiao es que el es un peleador ambriento y lo que kiere es entrar en el intercambio , sangre y un ko. Miguel tiene las herramientas , para la receta perfecta. Pero el tenia que pelear desde un punto defensivo , y crear ofens. el no podia intercambiar con pacquiao y mucho menos podia , empezar a tirar combinaciones cuando pacquiao estaba fresco. Aqui muchos dicen que el primer round pac lo dejo ganar pa ver lo que tenia. MIERDA ES!!!! A cotto lo hicieron bajar por algo. Ellos no querian saber nada de lo que cotto podia hacer. A roach y a pacquiao le combenia , que cotto se pusiera bruto y se creiera que podia irs al tu a tu con Pac. Y ahi fue que se le viro la torta. Yo siempre lo eh dicho , el dia que alguien le gane a Pacquiao , va a ser un peleador defensivo , que cree ofensa , no que la busce. Y va a ser una pela aburrida , por que la ventaja de pac es su velocidad , y mientras tu lo dejes trabajar detras de su velocidad , estas jodio. Como neutralisas esa velocidad????? revisate el primer round de Cotto vs pacquiao. y ahi tienes la respuesta.

                    I just saw Cotto handle him and make him uncomfortable the first half of the fight. I saw that the exchange in the 4th made Cotto take several rounds to regroup which he took massive damage. He regained his composure is the end of the 9th and 10th and landed a few nice countershots, but at that point his stamina was wasted.

                    If that left hook never landed, I think the middle rounds would have never happened the way he did. Cotto didn't have a trainer that commands his respect and that'll tell him proper stuff. Roach on the other corner corrected every mistake Pacquaio made where Santiago acted like a cheer leader. Cotto could have definintely seen the end of the fight but the ref did the job of Santiago. A little more discipline on Cotto's part and who knows. All I know was that the first six rounds sans the KDs were very good rounds.

                    I'd like to see it, but @ 147. I hope Cotto's move to 154 is one and done
