I think he has to seriously decide what he is willing to do to continue his career..... As a Mexican fighter, there is a lot expected from him, especially with all the hype surrounding him.... he has the talent the chin and the heart, but he thinks too much. He has to find his inner MEXICAN that is willing to sacrifice for the win.

i think he needs to realize the exact opposite. it was the mexican machismo in him that got him caught up in the crowd and wanting to exchange during the maidana fight.
he cant get caught up in trying to be exciting or living up to other people's expectations of him. if he boxes patiently and uses his skills, the success will follow and so will the KOs. he has very underrated boxing skills when he decides to use em.

I agree that isn't what I meant though. I mean confidence-wise he needs to put it all on the line, don't half step. That doesn't mean to swing away, just go out and stick to your plan and switch up styles when needed. you are right he does have good boxing skills, but everyone knows he shouldn't be trying to pull a Sergio Mora. He just needs to get his mind right.

i'd favor ortiz over everyone at 140 (including valero) except for bradley.
you call the maidana fight a truth teller test, i call it a reality check and a learning experience. ortiz will be better becuz of it.

Ortiz is a good fighter but he came up well short vs Maidana. I'm not going to condemn him for opting out, but that kind of situation early in your career is where the great fighters suck it up and keep boxing.

He also got suckered right into a brawl with Maidana, when he should have kept boxing even after dropping him.

Nah man. I'm actually thinking about Khan ruling this division. He lost brutally by 1rnd KO but his spirit was not dented and continued to improve. Any super_overhyped fighter would have their spirit broken and would perform badly on the next fight. Him..., he became world champion.

The mental toughness is there , the skills are there , what he probably lack by chin he could overcome by a better technique. We'll see but the way he bounced from the loss is,IMO, a telltale sign of an elite fighter.
