Well once the oldies are out, the rising stars would get much much more attention. HBO would have no choice but to market these guys. And when they do, they have potential to reach that superstardom cuz they ain't lacking the talent dept. that's for sure.

It takes more than talent to become a superstar in boxing. A fighter has to have something that catches the eye of the casual viewer that makes them want to watch that particular fighter. Personality, charisma or attitude something that catches the eye of the casual viewer. Delahoya had the charisma and the looks for the ladies. Jones had his ****y attitude that made people tune in to watch him win or watch him lose. Trinidad simply had the love of Puerto Ricans on the island and here in the United States plus other fans who loved to watch him fight. He also had that do or die attitude that made people watch.

First of all, the young stars have plenty of charisma, it's just that no one is paying attention to them. That's also why you don't hear about them as much as the heavys. Charisma is something you develop. Roy only got more and more ****y as his career progressed. So yeah, givem a chance. I guarantee the new crop will grow to superstardom, at least the very best of them.

Right now I think the only ones that have the chance to become superstars are Cotto and Taylor. There maybe more coming in the future but right now those are the only two ahead of the pack. Look at Mayweather he is one of the best but he is far away from superstar status. Morales is a great star but not a superstar.

Patience man, you'd be very suprised to see who's fight you're paying 59.99(if its still the price) 5 years from now.

You're telling me that you can't see right now if someone is going to be a superstar or not. If Cotto keeps winning and heading in the same direction he's heading towards superstardom. Taylor has to step it up more and he can head down that same path.

Cotto's fanbase is quite large already plus being a latino doesn't hurt his cause either.
first off taylors the only one who is gonna grow anymore den he is
Corrales is already giving his last fights
yes hes knew to the scene but old to the sport
he knows dese are his last fights
and as much as i hate to say it
                same goes for morales
i hope to god he proves me wrong
but hes not getting any younger
                altho hes a young person
hes an old fighter that is moving up in wieght which as weve seen
i.e. Oscar and roy its not the best idea to move up in weight near the end of their careers
but theres tons of other guys that will slowly make their way through the cracks as we finally realize we have to let our champs go

I imagine HBO will just end up raiding Showtime's prospects some more when the superstars retire. Showtime's done a great job of putting out some future champs. In fact they put out Rocky Juarez, Juan Diaz, and Kermit Cintron - who HBO already had on a tripleheader Boxing After Dark. If Cotto-Hatton does happen, it'll happen on HBO. I imagine they'll go after Robert Guerrero and Paulie Malignaggi if they rise to the next level.

It's funny though that HBO let Cory Spinks go away and apparently would have let Tarver if they could have gotten the Calzaghe fight through. I guess HBO has more money and prestige to work with to get guys in the future or to sign guys "back". I'd think Spinks is a guy you'd want to claim as yours like they do Roy, Oscar, Mosley, and did Lennox a year or two ago. They'll probably throw some money at Left Hook Lacy eventually too.
